Hi All,

Looking for a bit of advice. I use the bike for 30 mile daily run to and from work. I dropped the bike about a week ago doing an embarassing 10mph in the wet (the old dissapearing front wheel trick). It is my first real bike since passing 8 years ago and have riden it Mon-Fri wet and dry since April.

Since dropping it on the left side I am now overly paranoid about the temp of the engine. When I get to journeys end I touch test the area around what i think is the clutch and magneto cover, and too me it feels to hot and hotter than before I dropped it.

It seems to run okay, am I just paranoid?

Probably Mr. Green

If I was you, i'd check the coolant levels and oil level and, if they are all OK, then just ride it. You might have created an airlock in the coolant system so try squeezing all the reachable radiator hoses (with the bike off and the engine cold) and see if this improves things.

Cheers

Grim

Paranoia , its liquid cooled right? , it should turn on a fan when it gets too hot (if you wear plugs you can see your headlight dim a bit when it comes on) ,

lots of factors can change how hot engines get ,

humidity or what not , the last week has been cool but dry = engine stays cooler than normal,

weeks and weeks ago it was cooking , and 3 miles out I'd be cooked up the fan pushing hot air on me,

if you are reet paranoid do that silly haynes trick and take out your thermo switch thinging and boil it to test if it is correct.

If it does stay right on the red line on the temp guage , turn it off! ,

leave it running for a while to see if the fan kicks in. On the fazer its quite loud so you wont miss it if your next to the bike.

No fan as yet, that's why I think I'm paranoid.

Question
Did the old tube test and it hasn't made much difference. I am sure something is wrong as it doesn't seem to have as much pull when I am overtaking, it is like I am a cylinder down.
