Polish people are well dodgy, why do you want to go there? Wink

Sorry mate.

Are you after the cheapest method then? The most scenic? My idea of "best" would be the quickest (less time travelling, more time in the country). Also, what time of year do you plan to go? 'Cos I hear that it can get a bit chilly in the winter.

Bus is the cheapest way to get there, it's usualy under £100, but takes about 24hours upwards (depending on what part of Poland your going too).
Flying there is very expensive (cough* BA/LOT monopoly *cough), your looking at about £200-250 upwards.
If you want to ride there make sure you have theft, life and health insurance.
What part of Poland are you going to and why?

I've always fancied Norway for the Northern Lights, or perhaps Sweden for the, er, blonde scenery Rolling Eyes Smile

Don't bother, you can get it in Amsterdam cheap enough.

Don't forget to get your insurance checked to include those countries you are travelling through.

The polish border checkpoint and others for that matter inpound bikes for their lack of insurance cover.

Regards,
Kevo.

Like 40+ degrees. Shocked

Enjoy!

Is there much bike theft in Poland? Is there anything I can do to increase security while I'm there? Is it worth asking for secure parking when I book accomodation?

I've been back in blighty for five years now but I think their crime rate generally is quite low...
A guy pulled a knife on someone when I was there and it made national news! Shocked

I guess you prob SHOULD ask for some secure parking when booking or just keep a hungry jack russell in a pannier and tie that to it!

Also if you get into grief with the local pigs... have some money handy cos they expect to be bribed.. they have set rates and everything.

You'll have a laff there and if you learn some Polish and try it out, the local girls will LOVE you for it! Wink

Enjoy your stay there mate Wink I'm sure you will come back with the biggest grin ever Wink Mr. Green

Just out of interest are you going to ride there then, if so what bike?

Also if you are riding there be careful of insane drivers especially lorry drivers who are often pissed and watch out for the pot holes etc..

Also little tip about the cops, some times if you get a particularly dumb police man, when he asks for your license give him your buss pass, it's been know to work before Very Happy

i will be going on my bike(97 vfr750)...just bought it on friday and its a little bit different from my 79 gs1000s!!...my last trip abroad was 8 years ago when i thought it would be cool to take my 73 norton commando to spain!this coolness lasted till 200 miles from barcelona when the engine blew!! the £200 taxi ride to barcelona was a story on its own...
