I went for a job interview a couple of weeks ago in Cambridge, for a Social organiser at a college. It took a couple of hours to drive there, and I stopped at a local info office to pick up some brochures and a map. And good job I did too.

Part of the interview was to design a weeks activities for the students...or to at least sort out a handful of activities in 8 minutes. Anyway, my map & brochure came in handy!

So anyway, the interview - disjointed, by the fact it was held by three people, though not all at the same time (overlapping etc), anyway, they told me about the Social organiser bit, then they said it would be my job to open & close the building, health & safety, ensuring building is secure, be in charge of the bursary student (welfare) and make sure they do their job of running the cafe, then it would be my job to do the stock taking and buying food for said cafe, and general student welfare/counselling, and some TEFL teaching if it arose, and book keeping and petty cash, oh and odd job person, who looks after fixtures and fittings...and and and...all for £16K.

I asked current employee why she was leaving, it was basically cos she eats, sleeps, lives her work...there is no time for herself, she's always on the go...

I went home, discussed the post with my friends and family, everyone agreed the job was seriously taking the proverbial...and when the letter came through saying I was unlucky this time...I thought phew! I didnt want it anyway....

My place is good as in when I leave the office, as far as they are concerened I'm off the face of the earth. If something happens it waits till I'm back in. We have on call people who are paid extra but I like knowing that when i walk out those doors I'm my own man.

Next week I'm going to have to work over the weekend. First time since I started with the company in Feb this year and I get double time. Can't really complain.

I've an interview for a new position in the same company next Friday and I'm bricking it! Have to make a presentation and everything Confused

Ive decided to source positions back within the Graphic design industry, despite all my qualifications, additional training etc. Im still not able to pursue my dream of working with teens in an agency role, giving advice/guidance. They want qualifications & experience...Im only part qualified as I stand.

So Im revamping my old cv and cold calling design agencies, and see what I can come up with.

Itssooo difficult to change your career in the UK, whereas my Aunt in Oz went out as a beauty therapist, then became a secretary, then a primary school teacher and now she's an aneasthetist...
