Is this a scam? ,

I received a letter today saying that a private company could not deliver my Barclay card and required me either to go to a WWW , or phone up a particular 0870 number.

Instantly I'm thinking its a scam , namley because I used my Barclay card (I pay off the balance each month BTW) that very same morning to get some petrol ,

and the expiry date on my card is sometime in 2009

though recently my card has had to have the pin put in more than once.

any thoughts?.

Sounds like a scam, if your current card works and doesn't expire til '09 then I don't think Barclays would just randomly send you a new card. Call Barclays on a number from their website or on the back of your statement if you want to be sure about it.

Googling for the 0870 number should bring up something if it is a scam.

Didn't they ask for few random letters out of it rather than the whole password?

Scams can be amusing there is a woman at my work (i cant stand her so thats why its funny) the dizzy git paid workmen up front to fix her boiler and they sodded off, no fixed boiler and no money to be seen, that was last year. This year someone called telling her she had won the spanish lottery and needed her bank details so she gave them to the person and now she has no money left in her account!
