Sorry if you guys get this all the time!

Since I started riding I have noticed that very few bikers wave to me because I have L plates! Just wondering why that is?!

I find that to...i see about 4/5 bikes every day going to work (about 3 of them on the way home) and they all nod to me but i guess its because they got used to me.

Out on a sunday or what ever, i probably get about 50% of the bikes i see nod/wave to me, i don't really mind as they probably think 'oh look, a 17yr old crazy bastard thinking hes valentino'

But saying that, i've seen some riders ride far worse than learners on 125s Shocked

A) Bikers usually nod.

B) Lots of bikes will only nod to certain other types of bikes / bikers.

C) They might be concentrating on the wet patch they know's going to be around the next corner Smile.

Oooh hello there Arachnid - fancy meeting you here!! Laughing When I was on my 125 I used to notice that hardly any biker on a bike bigger than mine would nod! And it was just because I was on a smaller bike and 'below' them! I found it very ignorant! I nod at every biker I meet! Mind that can get very dizzying if I meet a ride-out!! Laughing

Most bikers when they go past other bikers will nod at one another... which rocks IMO, kinda makes being a biker special sortof Confused don't see car drivers being nice to each other Smile... never seen any bikers wave but i guess it's just a similar friendly hello type thing... Mr. Green

It doesn't bother me because it just tells me they're being better riders for not concentrating on waving to everyone, but it's nice to get a wave now and again to make you feel like part of the gang! Haha listen to me!

Hey Guys,

Very Happy I own a Gilera DNA (but am selling it and getting a cbr 600 after my full test in a few weeks time Wink ). I must say that I am surprised that I get nodded at quite often as people on "real bikes" dont like dna's. Maybe it's because I don't wear trackies but instead where textile protective gear.

Just a few thoughts Cool

I know quite a few riders who refuse to wave to learners because often it distracts them from the road.
One of them will recount with zest how the one time he waved to a learner, the kid nearly ran into a traffic island trying to wave back.

Yeah it does, you end up getting a bit of a headbanging motion going on. Do most people bother trying to nod to everyone in a group or is it just me?
