Ok i got flashed by one of the speed cameras that points towards you.............can they actually do anything seeing as the number plate's on the back!?

Also the flash is surprisingly disorientating and i would have consdiered it a hazard!?

Any enlightenment greatly appreciated Very Happy

Think I 'could' have been flashed a few times by em but never heard anything. Would'nt advise making a habit of it with the same camera as they could be lying in wait for you one day near the camera to catch you out with lots of pretty pictures of the front of your bike. Bit unlikely I know and its probably me just being paranoid.

Thats what i was thinking but surely motorbikes are a large proportion of speeders so not being able to catch them seems a bit odd. Oh well...........i'm not complaining!

don't make a habit out of it , tons of bike pictures from the front may piss off the gov to introduce laws and or cameras that can catch bikes and we all know how repressive NL can put in laws can't we?

Not much in it to be honest between cars and bikes.

All the best

Proportionately, I bet there is. The percentage of bikers that speed is most likely much higher than the percentage of car drivers that speed, hence why there are so few forwards facing cameras.

Percentage who are breaking the speed limit is remarkably similar.

All the best

Maybe so cause pretty much everyone does break the speed limit but i would have thought that bikers would exceed the speed limit more than car drivers ( i.e most car drivers sitting around 90 and bikes around 110-130 ish...)

I'm sure i was caught today by a forward facing mobile camera.I was on the bike and the camera was in a van.I'm sure when i went past the van the driver was writing down my reg number. Can you be prosecuted this way? I thought they needed a picture of your number plate?

I believe it is sufficent for them to write your number down as you go past them.

i think they have to prove with a photo and the exact time. i wouldnt think just writing down your number would be suffecient,
if you took it to court and asked to see the speed camera photo. it wouldn't have your plate on it so along with a scribble on a peice of paper it wouldnt be admissible.
mabee some one knows something contary to this, Thumbs Up

i always give the one finger salute to cameras. Mr. Green

if you change lanes between cameras it stops it working, they are only designed (at this stage) for check for speed on a single lane at a time. and the cameras don't talk to each other between lanes. Mr. Green Thumbs Up

Hi

Yes they can prosecute you on the evidence of a written down registration number.

Hardly difficult to change that at all. Not really a design issue, more of a case that they only homologated it to work in pairs.

All the best

They catch them in the end. To many photos of the same bike speeding and they will send a car to watch for the vehicle to pass the scamera. They have the evidence, they also have a front image of the rider. Wink wiggle out of that one.
