hi sorry I have not been on in a while but been bike less till now maybe I have been offered a cbr 600 for £400 delivered from staffordshire to southampton it was on ebay but it ended with no bids heres description as copyed from ad Good points:

10 months mot,

10 months tax,

2 avon tyres (not yet run in),

new battery (last week),

replaced coils,

replaced carbs,

starts every time,

micron exhaust,

renthal handlebars,

mini speedo,

twin headlights (metal not plastic).

Bad points:

exhaust has been cut down (previous owner),

few scratches on plastic,

slight play in head stock (tighten or replace bearing),

paint work has seen better days,

small damaged to front fender (see picture)

seems to have bit of a splutter round 60mph if "cruising", have changed, cleaned & checked carbs, relaced coils (they needed it), probably doesn't help with cut down exhaust but since changing coils & fitting new battery i haven't really had the time to try it properly, iv only done 80 mile since mot (due to moving home & arrival of my daughter).

This bike can be ridden away by the winner, viewing can be arranged & recommended as pictures aren't always reliable. The bike has lots of potential, I just haven't the time to carry on & enjoying it. Ive been honest but any questions are welcome & will answer as soon as poss. Collection & cash within 7 days end of auction, it's NOT advertised elswhere, NO RESERVE so highest bidder wins, so no time wasters please. Good luck & happy bidding





Took it out today (wed 27th), was fine for 20 mile then lost power, died & wouldn't start, turning over but not firing. While waiting for recovery (an hour), pressed start button & it fired up, reved through fine. Intermitent poss electrical fault, I haven't got the time to sort it


So my question should I buy it? I think I know whats wrong with it only problem is i will have to sell my laptop to pay which means i need to build a pc out of my bits

Their great bikes for their age, gearbox went on mine recently. Check the gearbox, if it works the other stuff you mentioned is what you can expect off a bike that age

If you're sure that you can fix the engine problem, go for it.

Not sure about someone that uses Avons as a selling point though .

CBR600s tend to be pretty bullet proof and are plentiful so there will be loads of parts in breakers. I say buy it and then get it fixed. Which I may be able to help with, being a bike mechanic in Southampton.
