bike wont start please help

ok got a zxr 400 a mans coming to look at it today and hes on his way, i took it up road run fine. come back stalled it now it wont start, drop tested the battery it was weak and droped to 10v, all it does now is clicks wont crank, put battery on charge, sureley it wouldnt have sezied would it? cheers

Try jump / bump starting it.

well it runs, fine,, just the strartin on the button.. it does click like they do when theres not enuff jucie,, but even tryed jump startin and it just clicks still,.. checked fuses..

if jump starting off another battery:

1. make sure the other battery is ok. If it's something you've had laying about your shed, it's not ok.

2. disconnect the earth lead from the battery in the bike and connect the other battery directly to it (i.e. take the dead battery out of the circuit, if it's really dead it'll be sucking power from the jump battery, power which should be starting the bike)

couldnt get it togo, ok right from the battery the pos goes into a relay type thing, the off to starter if i hold wire from starter on battery it turns like a gooden,, it must be somthing to do with that switch?,, also has smaller wires on top of it which i presume are trigger wires from the starter switch?
could this be the fualtey item?

ok i think i may know whats happened. i stalled it and cranked her over quite abit bad batteery pullin lots of amps.. could it of welded itself stuck?

just sounds like a simple dead battery to me....

Starter relay is playing up. Is a ickle box half way between the battery and the starter. That should be making a ticking noise. Give it a bash and try again.

sounds like you have diagnosed a problem with the starter realy. Assuming there is no problem with the battery, if the relay clicks but the motor won't spin, that will mean that the internal contacts have become covered in carbon through electrical arcing. sometimes you can take the relay apart and clean it, sometimes you will need to buy a new relay.
