Hi all.

Quick background, Im at Brunel uni in uxbridge now, and i am trying to make it through without racking up debt. So i need a job, but im a lazy bastard Smile. I randomly went in the local pizza delivery the other day and applied, arranged a kinda trial day on sunday, to see if i am "suitable" lol... It was funny. all the guys are Indian/Pakistani, and im guessing they must get a massive amount of forigners coming in and out of the work because, not only was the manager surprised when after asking "do you have a CBT" i pulled out my full bike licence, but the look on his face was "ohhh an actual licence"...

Anyway they have fucking shitty 60cc automatics, and i would imagine i would have to wear their uniform/gear... I dont know if i could deal with such a little bike, smallest i have had is a 125, i mean my whole road riding is based upon having at least a small amount of grunt to get you out of the way of the blind drivers out there... I ride a GS500 now, No ZZR1400 by any means but compared with what i imagine a 60cc will do,

Any tips on riding mopeds, obveously dominate your lane as much as possible, and stay aware but are there any little tricks the 50cc crew have to keep you alive? Smile

Also fucked if im wearing one of their battered nondescript "red" helmets....

Also im thinking do i wanna be a fuckin pizza boy? Yes it Will afford me some spending money and hopefully a new bike (and free pizza hopefully Razz) but ... the bike and the uniform... not to mention the wankers i will no doubt have to deal with...

Opinions? Advice?

I once thought about it too, but then I got put off by the thought of going to all the shit hole estates and the chav scum robbing the pizzas from the back of the bike or trying to fight you. Lol...I am not going to fight people over a pizza.

The only pro I can think of is the free pizza you get at the end of the night.

Then again you could just do it for the pizza boi experience. Laughing Thumbs Up

Do it, pizza delivery is the easiest work I've ever done, though I did it in a turbocharged 2 litre diesel van Mr. Green it's great fun. You do naff-all work if it's a week night, and I loved just creaming that van around town, skidding all over the place. I bet they had to replace the tyres when I handed my notice in. Laughing I can't imagine how much fun it would be on a moped, if only they used GSXR 750s instead. Sad Laughing

Have you considered bar work?

It's great if you can get into a decent bar used by some students (note: not a 'student bar', they get to busy!).

No tips but some of my funniest times were spent at the pub I worked in, both working and indulging in the lock-ups afterwards!

Sorry, all my moped experience is largely from GTA:Vice City. So it's no helmet, ignore all lights, use all the road, but only if the pavement is not available.

Then again, that's what they do around Northampton.

Considered it, At least as a pizza boy i would only have to deal with the drunks at the door... in a bar its all night... also the SU bar has no vacancies, and truthfully i dont think it would be for me... unless im drunk, drunk people piss me off Smile

and i think part of the appeal of the pizza job is being able to thrash around some liitle moped that isnt mine... and hopefully free pizza... because 15 quid is way to much for a stuffed crust...

In my area (Grays - Essex) if it's a highrise/dodgy area they wont even deliver.

Been thinking about doing it in the evenings when I get home (babies ain't cheap)....

Thats the thing, since i have been considering it i have actively been watching pizza hut riders, and they all have that red lid... I wont work there if i am forced to wear a used helmet that i dont know the total history about... In that case i suppose i could work for a small delivery shop... If i were so inclined Smile

Update: Just got back was there from 5 till 10... They worked me hard... mostly doing dishes (into their dishwasher) and then into the oven, did some basic dough preparation...

Saying that everyone seems cool, the riders kept feeding me garlic breads and pepsi while i was working and the deputy manager seems ok... So it seems i got the job, Was funny the looks i got when i was going home and started up the bike (its well loud with a blowing exhaust)...

Also they gave me a medium pizza free at the end of the night... but it seems like if you are hungry there you just put something in the oven and munch it... Smile

Also seeing how the pizzas are made pizza hut must have fucking massive profit margins....

The funny thing is as most if not all riders only have a CBT, pizza hut have teamed with a bike training school to offer a "CBT2" i assume some more carpark riding and maybe a rideout to take their riders over the basic minimum... No one can seem to decide if i need to do it, having a full licence... I guess they dont get many pink ones Razz

I worked as a driver for pizza hut and cbt2 is bloody hilarious!

I turned up on a 125 with me L plates. The guy didn't know I'd been riding 3 years. I start off with 2 newbies driving in circles. The guy asked me if I'd been on a moped, when i said no, his responce was "Your gonna love it" Not sure what i was on, but there was 2 guys on CG's and me on the smallest moped you've ever seen! Bloody hell it was quick on pick up though! After lapping people a few times and being made to act as traffic for the other guys to practice with i was told that the CBT2 was "dull as shit" he knew i could ride, so as i was there and pizza hut were paying did I want a proper bike lesson.

OK me said! So i went off with one of the instructors for about 3 hours, we just rode around the area, while he assessed my riding and gave me some tips to brush up on.

I bloody loved working at pizza hut. I just did it while my missus was working nights for a bit extra cash, but you can really rake it in with tips. The mopeds are a bloody good laugh, and I wouldn't worry to much about it. Delivery drivers have the easiest job in the place. I spent most of the time out side sorting out my bike or eating various things that came out the oven. Weekends are busy, but you expect that.

As for the chavs, i was told if they threaten you, give them what the want, pizza, money or moped.

Unless you think you can take them, in which case kick the shit out of them and take thier money, pizza, moped etc.

Mr. Green Thumbs Up

Well i just done my first 7 hour shift 5-12...

Knackered now, but it was ok all in all.

Adjusting my riding to these 50cc's is gonna be interesting, 0-10mph is around 5-6 seconds, and as warned drivers were cutting me up, pulling infront of me at the last second, but it was ok, made around 10 quid in tips which is ok for my first day i suppose...

My first customer ordered something that she gave me a 20 pound note for, i was following another rider for the first two or three deliveries, but he let me goto the door with the pizza, so anyway she gives me a 20 and i have to run back to the other guy for change, when i get back she asks why there is two of us and im like "its my first day" so she goes "aww" and gives me a 3 quid tip, im well chuffed, so much so that i forget to take the 20 off her, we ride off down the road (not that far) and i see her in the mirrors calling me back... so i go back and she says hav eyou forgot something... doh Smile... i wont do that again..

Also delivered to some ghetto estate where some chavs asked me if they could "have a go", i just replied "nahh sorry mate, you couldent handle this beast" and rode my hairdryer off...

Anyway after i was finished, i got on my bike and set off... now i only ride a GS500 but fuck me it was like someone switched on warp engines... so i ragged the shit out of it all the way home which was fun... was especially fun pissing past all the types that i have seen all day pissing past me whilst muttering in my helmet "if i was on my bike i would have you ya bastard"... Smile

Now im gonna have a shower, a massive bong then goto sleep and repeat it all again tomorow Smile...

used to do deliveries, never really had any problems apart from getting mugged once (at knife point lol)..

if you're just looking for a job to get some extra cash etc it's cool, really easy, sit on your ass all night, get free food etc etc..

not sure if doing it on bikes would get you more attention and therefore more hassle than doing it in a car though, i certainly wouldn't fancy it.. and i'd never do it on my own bike even though th embarressment of riding one of theirs would be Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed

depending on your .. how much i want to make/how lazy i am ratio you could try market research? lot of students do it and can make good money from it, i used to do it making about 250 - 300 a week for 4 or 5 days doing about 6 hours a day.. flexible hours etc Thumbs Up but you can easil make more than that.

I hope i never get mugged, i wont be fighting i will comply completeley, as long as they just want the pizza/money, i would prolly fight for the ped if only not to have to walk back to the shop... saying that if theres loads of them or weapons involved fuckit....

And i think i can make good money, yesterday was my first day i worked 5-12 and made about 50 ish quid maybe a bit more inc tips, as a student i dont pay tax on that, im only planning working saturdays/sundays now in order to save up for a ZX6R, but maybe the green machine will plague my dreams and force me to work a couple extra nights a week... Wink

Also for a lazy git like me, not starting at 9am is wonderful....
