looking for new tyres

i ride a suzuki en125 and the tyres are so skinny on it, its ridiculous. i was riding in wet today and it slid. Its happend in the same place twice before. It can't be the speed im riding at as i take the roundabout slow anyway.

the handbook recommends tyre size:

Front = 2.75 - 18 4pr
Rear = 90/90 - 18 4pr

How much bigger do you think i could safely go? or is it impossible without changing other parts on the bike?

You sure it wasn't just diesel on the road or something?

Skinny tyres aren't brilliant for ultimate grip, but they are suitable for smaller machinery.

I have a suzuki marauder 125 and my back end thinks it's on an ice rink in the wet! My manual says...Front - 110/90 16...Rear - 130/90 15!! But it also says my tyre pressure should be 25...my manual sucks me thinks!! I've been recommended to get bigger wheels...like 17" and get better tyres! Apparently bridgestone are good!

Sorry to hijack the thread, but it won't be that long before I need new tyres.

Newer ZX6's come with the BT014 as standard but older ones came with the BT012. My bike also came with BT012's when I bought it. Is the Bridgestone BT014 the new version (i.e. replacement for) the BT012, or is it a completely different tyre?

Not quite.

I see what your saying, but on cars you dont lean. The problem isnt going in a straight line, its when you lean the bike over to get round bends that you loose the grip that you wouldnt in a car. Its all about the tread on the contact patch when your leaning over in the wet. Although the tread on these smaller tyres is generally quite good, the contact patch is minimal and so if one section of this patch looses grip, then thats it.

is it easy just attaching a new wheel that is one size bigger? or would the forks or other things need to be changed aswell?

I aint entirely sure personally i'm just gonna tell the garage exactly what i want and let them do what needs done! Get my student loan soon so yay!! Plenty of mods for me!
