Not as fast as many of the modern supermotos and it is also quite a heavy machine. But it is a very reliable, probably more so than many of the faster SM bikes. They are also relatively cheap to buy used. ____________________ Rieju MRX 50 Castrol Edition |

interested to hear people opinions on this bike too. I ride a DT at the min and was looking at a DRZ400 as my first big bike. The 400SM is £4500 on the suzuki site. Ive seen 2 or 3 400S's going for around £2k on biketrader..
I really want the 400SM tho because it comes in black
edit..
hadnt seen the fmx before! Damn those twin cans look sexual. How much are they going for secondhand? £200 more and you get 650 over a 400! ____________________ 04' DT125RE (run-a-bout) // 89' DT125R (rebuilt + supermoto conversion)

I can only just touch the floor on my DT and im almost 5' 11". First thing that hit me when I got it was how tall it is. Supermoto's are generally lower anyways cos the suspension is setup for the road. Unless it was a conversion.. ____________________ 04' DT125RE (run-a-bout) // 89' DT125R (rebuilt + supermoto conversion)

the DRZ400 comes from the factory at 33bhp, restricted by a smaller carb to the enduro model (36 instead of 39mm i think), cams, thicker base gasket and obviosuly the exhaust.
https://www.jhsracing.co.uk/ - will increase the power upto 42-43bhp in a day for £1500 but when you put that next to the price of the bike it dosent sound all that great.
for a real world everyday bike though there spot on, engines are absolutely bullet proof and your not going to be servicing it every week. there are betetr choices out there but it depends if you want to sway towards practicality as opposed to balls out supermoto. a better option to look at maybe something like the KTM 625smc, alot more power and a lot more fun although they still dont require the harsh service times of some of the more highly tuned bikes. |

Got to have a ride on a drz-400 the other day. Wasnt the sm version but its close enough. First impression..
Dont like the seat.. way too narrow which might prove painful on long journeys.
Brake/Gear levers in horrible position. Couldve just needed adusting as I wear mx boots and my mate wears sports racing boots but everything felt tight.
Nice torque with plenty in the bottom end but then I would say that after riding a 2T 125. Also im told by my mate it will wheelie from 1st to 4th and does around 70mph comfortably before it starts to bog down.
Weight wise I hardly noticed a difference to be honest. ____________________ 04' DT125RE (run-a-bout) // 89' DT125R (rebuilt + supermoto conversion)

I'd like to see it - not that I've actually ridden one, mind. But have ridden bikes with similar power/weight, etc. |

I meant it will wheelie from any gear upto 4th, off the throttle.. Didnt explain it too well.. Also it was the not the SM, so yes it would have the trail gearing ____________________ 04' DT125RE (run-a-bout) // 89' DT125R (rebuilt + supermoto conversion)
