Right, i've just received my box of fireworks, i got these for a lot less than they are retailing for (RRP £90 Shocked ).

I am going to do a display for my friends but i don't have a garden, i have a roof Confused
Some of the fireworks are design obviously to be stuck in the ground, but what can i do as an alternative.

If your doing stuff off a roof i'd recommend using a plant pot full of compost or something damp to stick the wood in. as for catherine wheels etc would it be too hard to knock together a couple bits of wood?

Every year the rules get tighter and tighter becuase some little sh*t blows ther hand, or half their face off. I remember the 'bangers' we had as kids were twice as dangerous as they are now, but we were taucght taht if we f*cked up, we'd lose our hand.

Well, i've been looking for big rockets, they are still pretty lame in my opinion but i guess it is becuase of idots using them.

All the fireworks should be "planted" to keep them steady so they don't fall over. In the kit you should have also got a long thin tube for launching the rockets. If you can't get a tube just buy a cheap set of cheap screamer rockets there'll be a tube in that.

Even though I have a large garden I always use a large tub/bucket/plant pot filled with sand. Use something similar and you'll be fine.

depending on your roof, a couple of buckets of water to chuck used fireworks in, or pour over smouldering ones in an emergency wouldn't be a bad idea.

I can't believe you can buy fireworks online! Surely you can't post them?? There's restrictions on when they can be sold in the shops here. I think they're only for sale between 23rd oct & 8th Nov or something like that. All seems a bit pointless if everyone can just have em delivered whenever they want. It was like fucking Beirut round here a couple of years ago before they started clamping down. Sad

You are not allowed to post them. Mind you, you're not allowed to post poppers either, but I see some companies offer them mail order.

I'd imagine, that they use a courier/non R.M parcel company to deliver them.

Sadly yes, too many kids buying 'em on the cheap from their mates then just setting them off from the nearest roof without actually knowing the first thing about what they're doing. Sad

And you'd be wanting one of these, use a chimney to launch it. Thumbs Up

i have some jossticks, there like safety fireworks for indoors, a lot cheeper and smell nicer,
I can always authenticate the fun by roasting a hedgehog or two and licking the hob Smile

The sooner the better for me. I'm sick to death of retard kids settin em off in the street. Its all terraced housing where I live and when some fireworks go off in the street its enough to rattle the windows.

Buy decent ones - don't try and make your own. Make sure you've got enough room to put on a display.

We had a crappy box of fireworks when I was a student and after the first couple of rockets we decided to tape a few roman candles to the side of a rocket to liven things up a bit. That just made the rocket unbalanced and insted of shooting straight up it flew in a long arc, landed on someone's roof down the road, exploded and then sat shooting showers of red/green flames for the next 5 minutes down the front of their house. Fortunately, nothing caught fire and I think they were out.

The next firework party we had, I got everyone to bring some fireworks round to our house - but only one or two each, which meant that everyone brought a huge one instead of a box of piddly little flash bangs. We had it in Halloween fancy dress as well for a bit of fun. You were meant to have 25m of clearance when setting them off, but that was never going to happen as the garden was only about 10m deep at best. One of the fireworks went off low, physically knocked me over and blew the horns off my head (I was dressed as some kind of monster). The car alarms in the street went off regularly. In retrospect it was a bit risky. We weren't popular with any of the neighbours that hadn't been invited, but everyone that was there loved it.
