About five years ago my first set of two wheels was a scooter (Yamaha Maxter 125), I am 5'10" and weigh about 15st, and once in my buffalo textile jacket and padded trousers I dwarfed what was a fairly large looking scooter.

Anyway I'm on on my home 'L' plates and all sticking to the inside lane desperately trying to get the bike on a constant 60ish on the inside lane of the A23 into Brighton.

Overtaking me was a minibus van of workers and sitting at the back staring at me was this 'thug' retard of a bloke giving me the stare. I stare back and am getting quite irritated by this moron, so I give 2 fingers, and he duly replies with the Nescafe signal. 2 fingers back from me and he goes absolutley nuts.

Its at this point that I decide to slow down a tad and let the minivan continue on its way.

If any of you know the Brighton bound A23, you have the choice of hitting a roundabout that takes you into Brighton or veer left which joins the A27. I should have taken the Brighton route.

I take the long slow turn to join the A27 westbound where I find the minivan pulled over and this lunatic brandishing a claw hammer standing in th middle of the road at rush, waiting to take a swing at me, how I avoided being clobbered I'll never know.

Totally shook me up, and it was probably my fault, severe lesson learnt that day.

Thought I would share that with you.

Sounds like you need a faster bike Thumbs Up

If you get people standing in the middle of the road, just run them over, they will get more hurt then you, i always speed up.

You weren't in the wrong. The tosspot was obviously staring at you to get a reaction and did the whole stand-in-the-road thing to look tough in front of his redneck mates.

Fucking hell testoterone white van drivers.

Yesterday a bus was broken down in front of a set or red lights. Opposite a bus stop.

White van leering men drove at me whilst I helpfully used the bus lane to let them through. Fucking cretins. I was driving into a bus stop to let them past and they still tried to drive into me.

I was in second and just got out of it.

On a ped. No chance.

Lets be honest, this wasn't road rage, as the scrote in question wasn't driving. This was just an unpleasant prick being a criminal arsehole. Don't dignify him with a title that suggests there was a reason for it.

I would'nt say that I gave him 2 fingers for nothing, he was intimidating me, or at least I felt intimidated shall I say, he obviousley felt I looked bit of a plonker on the scooter. In any case. it did'nt deserve to have this maniac stand in the road and swing a hammer, whilst might I add the other retards in the minivan just watched, and the traffic was being held up.

Out of interest, where were you going on the A27? Wouldn't fancy crossing Shoreham-fly-over much in the autumn.

I wiped out on the exit ramp once, when I was still on l-plates, many years ago. Evil or Very Mad

my fave local ride, used to be the roads in and out of Steyning off the A27 by Sompting. Coombes road, all twisty, and the other one right over the downs.

Don't you remember the adverts where the 'shook the beans' for some obscure reason? It basically looked like the gesture to inform someone of your belief that 'they conducted their sex life in solitude' - to quote another member on this board who is much funnier than I.

I doubt even our resident pyscho-vigilante and enforcer of A Code Of Honour And Manners would consider claw-hammer-chicken with a motorbike as a legitimate (or sensible) response to getting the Agincourt bird.

I also have a road rage story.

Happened about 2 years ago, before i started riding. I was in my Vauxhall Nova when i see a Black Audi (which i later realised was an RS4) come barreling up behind me, as i was slowing for a junction. I stopped and checked then pulled out onto the main road. The car behind me then started swerving and flashing its lights at me to try and get past, then draws along side me. I look inside and see 4 lads in their early twenties, which i recognised as gippo scum from a local camp (at least thats my guess)

Now, here is where i went wrong. I hate people getting the better of me, and for some reason when i feel intimidated i like to use intense Sarcasm to hopefully infuriate them, i dont know why!

Anyway, the car just sits there next to me, and this is no dual carriageway, they are just sitting in the wrong lane parralel with me, making no attempt to overtake, So i start to brake and they brake too keeping level with me. So i accelerate and they pull alongside me again. SO, i give them the most sarcastic / gayest / piss-taking smile that i can muster, and give them the middle finger at the same time. This has the desired effect of making the situation worse. The car now attempts to side swipe me into the bushes, i slam my brakes on (im pooing my pants now) and stop the car.

The Audi then barrels off down the road, and figuring they have had their fun i carry on, counting my blessings.

Further down the road i see the Audi parked in a layby, i pass it, and the car immidiately starts accelerating, then stops in the middle of the road behind me and does doughnuts. I floor it and decide that the best thing i can do is just head to a Police station. a few seconds later the car comes up behind me and puts on its full beam, whilst staying about 3 feet from my rear bumper. There is a section of twisty corners that i normally take at about 60mph in my car, this time i just take it easy and do 40mph, I figure if im in my car and moving, theres not much they can do to me.

They stick with me for a few more miles before doing a handbrake turn in a residential area of leicester, and sodding off.

so to sum up.

1. Stolen RS4 + Gippo scum = don`t antagonise.
2. Don't try and run from an RS4 in a Vauxhall Nova 1.5TD
