I was sat at a station on the train early this morning and a woman came bounding down the platform to catch the door before it closed. At a rough guess I would say she was the chubby side of 22stone.
Now I see fat people plodding around all day long but it was something else to see one in full flight, almost unnatural and intrigueing but alarming at the same time. It was a bit like watching a dog attempting to climb a tree.
She must have made it to the door in time because I actually felt the carriage lean sideways as she got on. It must take some serious weight to compress the suspension of a train carriage.
It made me think this, I weigh 11.5 stone and to match this womans weight I would need to be carrying another one of myself around. Even if the weight evenly distributed I doubt I could run like she did carrying that kind of weight or even walk more than 30 yards.
I know there are some body building/nutritionist experts on BCF so thought this would be an interesting query for you.

So, under all that fat would this woman actually be quite muscular? Would muscle develop as the weight is put on to cope?

To a certain extent, you would develop muscle to compensate for your growing weight, as you would have to work harder to move all that bulk around - the principle is no different to bulking up in the gym.

It could also be that she was a big lump before she put on the blubber, so could have been stronger than your average tubby person.

If you have to lift a certain weight everyday then your body will adapt.

WTF? , why put on weight ? , why not just carry around 5 litres of water in a bladder vest
that cyclists and super long distance couriers use? wear 2 and its 10 kilos extra wear
4 and its 20 extra kilos , use a far amount of calories , you get stronger since the weight
is distributed well = not too much strain on your back,

when you want to be free at the end of the day take them off, unlike fat such bladders
can be easily removed.

Ermmm, I don't think anyone was suggesting it as a good method to gain an Adonis-like figure - we were simply explaining how a grotesquely obese woman was able to lumber at a speed sufficient to impress our chum Dave.

Thing is a fat person/fucker (call them what you will) has a thick layer of fat under the skin. They also have fat around their heart causing it to labour. So even if this woman could run fast for the train she still will be dead before your average weight healthy person.

Well I'm a fat bastard and I am as weak as a kitten, cos I rarely do any physical exercise.

No doubt if she has managed to get herself to that size and is mostly flab, then she's unlikely to have much extra muscle there.

Its probably mostly just the extra weight that "appears" to be strength.

For example, if I threw a punch* (which I have occasionally albeit rarely been compelled to do Whistle ) ... it hurts me like fuck cos my muscles are so unused to being exerted much beyond making a cup of coffee and carrying it to the sofa.

But those who have been on the receiving end have complained vaguely about the result - I've never actually ever managed to bruise anyone, as there is no power behind my punch ... but it would mostly be because of the weight behind the punch, not my strength, that has socked it to 'em.

*I'm better at throwing crockery, cutlery, saucepans, etc, LOL.

Erm aside from the obvious impracticalities, the biggest I've seen one is 3 litres, and they are all back mounted. So to get 20kg, ever tried wearing seven backpacks Laughing

I always had hellkat down as a size 10 so thats me told I guess LOL. On another note, a female friend of mine lost the equivalent of my body weight a couple of years back and went for being a fatty to a twig. Her body just adapted to what it needed to lift. At the end she struggled to lift me off the floor never mind carry me round on her back 24/7

the fat lass would be used to carrying her weight. The speed she was running might have been adrenalin induced. Trains can do that to you Laughing

LMAO.
What ... do I post like a sylphlike ravenhaired gorgon, then?
You can double that size, and add some wrinkles and greying sheeplike hair, cunningly disguised with a gothic black dye, LOL.

Think more like "mumsie", really Smile Matronly. Hattie Jacques-ean.
