If I run a total loss circuit on my track bike, what can I expect?

Would 2 batteries get me through the average trackday or am I looking at putting it on charge after every session?

It's an NC30 btw so the electrics are very simple and it will have a track loom so very little will be running from the circuit.

Cheers Folks Thumbs Up

I know it's far easier to keep the charging system, but the bike is being rebuilt from the ground up specifically for the track, so in for a penny and all that...

Personally, I wouldn't bother - get an extra hp or two; it may be noticeable in a race against other similarly tuned bikes, but I doubt it on your average trackday.

A battery should last you the whole day I reckon, though remember it's got to cope with starting as well. Could always have two batteries, so that you can swap them over at lunch time if needed.
Get really hardcore and you could make it bump start only for another kilo of weight saved.

erm, g, the alternators on nc30's wiegh in excess too 2-3kg.
now that it is a very large weight reduction off your crank so you should definately feel some more acceleration out of corners.

definately have a spare lying around whatever the matter, dont take the chance.

To be honest it's nothing to do with BHP or weight, but more to keep the bike as simple as possible, as bizarre and backwards as it sounds Exclamation

I'm fabricating a completely new rear subrame which will be left completely open except the battery and a seat-pad of some sort. To be honest its more of a winter custom build project than a bike I'm looking to win any races on. More of a fun project.

How does it add bhp? Is it simply the fact the engine isn't having to spin the alternator?

You usually leave the fly wheel in.

I don't think they reccomend taking it out totally, though you can lighten it. I suspect bad things would happen if you removed it completely.

Believe you gain power thanks to the lack of magnetic drag on it.

From what I've seen, you probably will be making stuff more complicated in the long run, but suspect you realise that Smile.
Definitely take the starter out for simplicity. NC30's are easy to bump start providing they've got a bit of charge.
