New bike.... just time to enjoy it!

Just got back from my first long ride on my new gsxr6

We picked it up on Monday but its only a half hr ride home so not much time to get used to it plus I was really nervous as its all sparkly and new so took it really steady!

Today was the first dry day I've been able to get out on it.
Didn't enjoy the first half of the ride much, confidence levels still a bit low after binning the cbr plus I was surprised how different it was to ride, I had assumed all sports bikes rode the same.

Anyway we stopped for a coffee and I felt pretty low, felt like I'd never get my confidence back up to where it had been, I felt like every little thing out there was worrying me, even down to the changes of tarmac on the roads , silly I know.

Got back on the bike and gave myself a good talking to, told myself to get it together cause I'd just end up coming off again if I didn't.

Well it worked and I had a great ride home. Started to feel in tune with the bike and the roads just flowed again

Its a fantastic little bike, much more suited to this one than the cbr and it helps to be able to get my feet flat on the floor!

Shame the weather is about to turn but will get as much time on it as poss before its tucked up for the winter.

Umm This is what im worried about!

The R1 is comming Tuesday morning and its been almost 2yrs since I rode properly.

If its nice Ill take it out for the afternoon between the dentist and other stuff.

Am sure you'll love it, I'm not really in a position to be giving advice as probably have less experience on bikes than most but I just took it steady, concentrated on what felt different and why and after a while it was as if I'd not ridden anything else!

I also cheated a bit as got hubby to scrub the tyres in for me so it was one less thing to worry about!

Loads of time left yet, forecast for the week around Stoke is dry everyday except Thursday, temperature around high teens, pretty unusual really. I'm putting my money on the first frost around the 10th of November.

Stop worrying, start enjoying, and take it easy on the new bike, sometimes the less you think about it the easier it gets.

yes its a K6 56 plate, the cbr was a 55 plate.

Im glad your enjoying it, once you get some confidence on it you'll soon be hooning around its an awesome bike and so much fun. Just remember to run it in and then rag the fuck out of it

Ive just got in from washing mine( after being motivated from craigs thread) and it promtply pissed down:x Decided I want some rearsets and braided lines next.

Where abouts you based, could go out on a ride sometime
