To many of the problems that occur on the road I mean ,

considering the judiciary are impotent made more so by full prisons , police are often too busy to deal with RTAs and often don't prosecute for obvious RTAs that were entirely the fault of one party.

Is violence the answer? , since doing nothing means those people who affect us are emboldened since nothing happens to them, and many BCFers get angry go ape shit , then calm down and chalk it up again to experience. , I have actually tried to put my boot into car doors a few times but have often missed or its been wet and I've not done any damage.

Like the case with Dragonfly , she was nearly wiped out , the guilty party didn't bat an eye lid , following and smashing windscreen would have given some comeuppance,

Though I'm no believer of Karma unlike some BCFers such that I don't think this will sort people out for their actions.

Any thoughts?

In most cases, I expect it will prove to the driver how it was the biker that was the dangerous lunatic - in future it may even make give bikers even less room.

It will make the biker feel better, however.

Ok, you've lost me now.
I must remember to have any accidents in the rain from now on Confused

Lashing out at someone who has put your safety in danger is classed as an 'Automotism', its a natural reaction which at the time could not be controlled.
With hind sight a vast % of folk would not have done it. Many cage drivers do stupid things to put us at risk simply by being unaware of us, much of this is down to the rider and their positioning, aggressive riding manner, speed etc.
A cage driver is more relaxed in his/her safety cell, we however are constantly aware, or should be.
I had a deliberate incident a few months back onmy way to Scarborough on the M62 from Mancheser. I had the driver look at me then cut in on me and try and take me off.
Result was 1 x SAAB with modified door, wing, bonnet and mirror. The driver refused to stop so i didn't pursue it any further.
I was bloody angry at his action towards me for simply being there in his mirror, 'I' on the otherhand, reacted with adrenalin (fight or flight) and as always in my character i stood my ground.
My advice though contradicts what i have just uttered, i would strongly advise NOT to retaliate, there are so many ways in which you could lose out.

Cue 'Black Knight' , Rickkkkkkkkk, where are you?

Personally I find it helps to consider the perp's motivation. Was it just inattention, stupidity, natural circumstance etc, or was it deliberate? If you've had a scare, but it wasn't caused deliberately, live and let live. Shit happens and you've probably done it yourself and felt awful (even though you looked straight ahead, gripped the wheel and called the other guy a few names, even though you knew it was your fault. Eh? Wink ).

Quite right Sir, insightful, and rated as such.

I think the earlier point by G is also valid, that it will cement in the average cack driver's mind that it was all the rider's fault, not his.

One should also consider that if the actions were deliberate, it could not only spark further life-endangering responses from the tit in question, but could also firmly cement in HIS mind that fighting a medium-grade war with any rider on the road is A Good Thing.

I only ever feel like smashing some twats windscreen but in reality i wouldnt do it as it would land me in more trouble than the offending driver, i prefer to give a good verbal lashing and sort things out in the street, perhaps even get an apoligy or if there has been an accident swap details or loose temper with no violence, dont think you can get done for swearing at someone. wait for cops etc, while shouting about how much thats going to cost if youe lucky enough to be able to speak.

near misses like mine the other day for instance, that woman most likely will cause an accident to some unfortunate rider/driver she was lucky this time but judging by her driving i am surprised she is still on the road, i only hope no one else is injured.

I used to scream and shout and swear, and lash out and get worked up and angry...now I dont bother, I shrug my shoulders and think 'tw@t', and then think about something else.

It doesnt solve anything getting irate, it winds you up, gets you stressed - and for what - nothing! It doesnt get solved, it doesnt get put right...

Im not sure what changed, perhaps it was riding, walking, being driven around some of the places like Bangkok, Hanoi, Saigon, places in India...that I realised, actually our drivers arent really all that bad...not in the big scheme of things.

I also think if everyone wasnt in so much of a hurry to get everywhere, the roads would be a nicer place. If people were more courteous and thankful when people did nice gestures, then it would spread...eventually.

My only ever strong reaction was a few weeks into my riding career... had some chav in a modified Nova or something throw an empty botle directly at me, hit me in the face (Well, helmet)... kicked his car twice and shot off into the distance.

Must have been quite embarassing to be in a car full of your mates, think you're it by throwing shit at someone, and then getting your panels kicked in repeatedly and not even be able to keep up with a 125cc bike when it speeds off.

Ohhhhhhh I like that one!

Sometimes I feel that tapping on their window and screaming SHITCUNT WEASEL WANKER CUNTLIP ODDBALL FUCKFACE doesn't always cross the cultural divide in the way I might like. Perhaps a bit of gentle sarcasm might do the trick - good call Killa.

If someone's pissed of with me for something they've done (will hold me hand up to say sorry if I was actually at fault) - or because they've tried to cut me up and failed, or whatever - I usually find the most effective way to annoy them is a smile and a cheery wave.

Much better than sticking ya' finger up at them.

clapping the stupidity..... done that a few times, or similar Middle Finger Laughing

i tend to evaluate how stupid they were and take it from there. pull along side and sit beside them generally makes them realise they done wrong. helps on black bike dressed all black.. scares them a little, i could be a little woos underneath it all... Laughing

pulled in front a couple of times and stopped them, had a chat Exclamation then let them go on their way... that's if really stupid Exclamation

done that. as you're along side, they look over at you and you're already looking at them with stern eyes.
did that to some young girl on the phone, those things are bad (phones, not women drivers), she was driving like a drunk. her eyes went Shocked as she turned her head and saw me looking in at her on her mobile, judging her.

or just go past the offending person, shake head when in front and give them the thumbs up.

Violence is the last resource of the incompetence.

Before you start thinking about possible legal consequences of kicking their door/mirror/etc, think about what'd happen if they took a swing (using their bumper) back to let you know to "fuck off!!", as if you're going to start damaging cars then someone might be wanting to do some damage in revenge.
