just wondering what everyones experiences were, first time you got stopped on a bike.

was half my life ago.....i was 16, had a crappy honda c50, and used to hang out in the local park with some other kids of the same age. in the dark we would offer the girls rides round the football fields with the lights off, in the hope of copping a feel afterwards of some fresh young breast... Embarassed

so there i was whizzing around with this giggling girl on the back, thinking id got lucky, when suddenly this panda car appeared in the middle of the field with its lights flashing.....such a shok, they were after ME, and rightly so! my guts turned over, thought i was going to jail! Shocked i got my pockets felt and read the riot act, as did the girl, and made to walk the bike back to where my mates were hanging out.

never been so embarrassed in all my life, or so scared of the law. didnt get any bitty either Laughing

My only real non-professional dealings with the police were conducted while I was in the middle of doing my best 'roadkill' impression last year.

Got a caution and a producer for "borderline" tyres on the car some years ago.

Also got some verbal advice about going thru a, Access Only sign... "But it wasn't there last week officer" ... "I know it's only been put there yesterday, but you'd be surprised at how many people could have been caught for driving without due care thru here"... gulp Shocked

Looks like I've had some lucky close shaves, but I'm basically goody two shoes like Mister James?!

Thinking

Had a copper knock on our door when I was about 12 because I'd lobbed an egg at the schools window. Laughing He just told my mum and she gave me a bollocking for him.

My first 'real' brush with the law was going past an unmarked Skoda copper coming the other way, at about 130. He already had his blues and twos on by the time I went past, but I expect by the time he'd turned round I was down the first side road and parked up in someone's driveway. Mr. Green

I have never had a 'brush with the law' for any reason whatsoever.
It is interesting, however, how many times I have had to give a statement.

Yes, I remember..I was sooo chuffed.

I was on my moped, feet hooked behind the indicators, laid across the seat, riding down the hill into our village. The local bobby overtook us (me, my step bro, and our mate Duane), and stopped us further down the road.

He told us that we were speeding. I said 'no way, my moped only has 30 mph on the clock, I cant have been speeding!' He turned round and said 'young lady, I can assure you that you were doing 44 mph when I came passed you', which I thought was hilarious cos a) I didnt know my moped could do such speeds b) the copper just admitted that he had to speed to overtake us. I remember having to try REALLY hard not to smirk. I was soooo happy to find out my moped went faster than the speedometer...!!!

I know its tempting fate but never been stopped either. My only dealings with the police have been as the victim of a crime, supporting someone else who was a victim and when I used to act as "appropriate adult " for the kids and other vulnerable people who had no one else to sit with them.

Got pulled over for riding my ped at 40mph on a deserted road that was a 40mph limit at one in the morning (was on my way home from work)

Cop: Have you got an L plate for the back of your bike?

Me: Yes I have

Cop: No you haven't

Me:Look at back of bike and realised l plate was long gone

Cop: Is the bike derestricted?

Me: (This is the point were I was scared shitless of getting done for various charges) Ummm no, not that I know of.

Cop: (Who obviously knew that it was) Right ok I will just take a look around the bike. Your tax disks on the wrong side and your tires are 0.000001 over the legal limit.

Me:Right I will have to get all that sorted then.

Well, he let me off and after he got my details he told me he was a biker and he owned a gixxer 1000.

I have since seen him on it and he nodded and everything.

Do any of you lot get 'let off' for things you do on your bike by coppers who are bikers?

Got stopped in the car at about 1am, looked a bit dodgy as I had been doing some work on it and all the ignition wires were hanging out. Asked me my age twice, was 18 at the time but looked 15, also asked if I had been drinking, got a producer. Carried on my way down the A4 to do a top speed run with my mates GPS reciever and laptop Laughing

Got stopped on my Jawa 350 in Edinburgh town centre (oj the Cowgate).

Copper asked me how old I was. 18.

Commented that my bike was rather noisy. Told him it was perfectly standard in every way (which it was).

Then asked where my L-plates were. Err. don't need any, I've got a full licence and this is a 350cc motorbike.

Then asked to see my licence. Showed him it. Still had it in my pocket from buying a tax disk the previous week

Then said "Aren't you supposed to have something else to go with this?". Not that I know of.

You know, something else that goes with your licence? Nope, no idea what you're on about.

I'm talking about your CBT certificate, don't you have one? Well, no.

But you need one to validate your licence. No I don't, I just showed you my full licence and I'm riding a 350.

"Well, you have seven days to produce it at a police station, sign this", issues hortie. Give him my best puzzled look.

Have you been drinking? No

Well, I can smell drink on you, blow into this, if that light goes red you're under arrest. Removed full face helmet (he must have one hell of a sense of smell), blew into thing, green light, look of intense disappointment on coppers face.

On your way Sir.

Went to the police station with my hortie the next day and told the guy on the desk that I couldn't produce my CBT because I neither had nor needed one. He got the desk sergeant who screwed it up and threw it in the bin.

I can laugh now but i was s**tting myself!
