Well I finally came off the FZR, some little scrote in a saxo decided he nolonger needs to look right when turning right onto a main road which I was traveling on. I hit his front right wing at around 30 and off down the road I went leaving me with thankfully no broken bones but one hell of a painful hip, shoulder and ankle.

The driver seemed to decide that he didnt give a flip how I was and didn't even come over, he just proceeded to check over his car The police turned up just before the ambulance, that carted me away to the hospital, and said they were going to do him for due care so atleast my insurance case should be clean cut.

Anyway I have now got the bike home and it seems to have mostly cosmetic damage but is quite likely to be written off due to the cost of getting it back to the pretty much mint condition it was in

In my experience, it doesn't make a sod of difference to the speed at which the insurance is sorted out. I had an accident where the other driver was charged with DWDCA at the scene and they still dragged their heels for four months over deciding who was at fault (he did a U-turn out of the bus lane he'd been parked in right in front of me).

Yes it was in Bristol, it happened just up from the ringroad heading into kingswood.

If you can prove it was their fault, then you have the leagl right to have your bike returned to the condition it was in before the accident - irrespective of the cost compared to the value of your bike.

The other sides insurance company may try to fob you off with a write off value, but you have no reason to accept it - insist on the bike being returned to its pre-crash condition.

Hi

Good luck sorting the insurance.

Suspect value wise the insurance company would put it at £1000~£1200. Repair wise at new prices, at a guess £400 for a silencer, £200 for the top fairing, £100 for the screen, £200 for the side fairing, £40 for the crank cover, £50 for the air intake and the same again for the trim over it, and say another £100 or so for odds and sods. Say £1100 damage. Well over the conventional 2/3 value write off point.

Insurance companies really fuck me off. There is NO WAY that should be scrapped. It used to be the case that you can accept the first derisory offer (which is what you will probably get) but negotiate kepping the bike to fix yourself. Anybody know if that is still the case?

Yep, everything will stiffen up over night....

I had an off last tuesday and i'm still aching...the day after my hip, knee and ankle were aching..now its

back, chest, shoulder, hip, knee (only hurts if pressure is put on it)...and same for the ankle.

i keep getting really sharp pains and aching just under the chest bone (or what ever its called, in the middle of ur ribs) and constant aching on my back if im walking...really worrying

Also, my hip clicks every time i walk...just imagine cracking your fingers, like that but it doesn't make a noise...i can just feel it, also aches constantly

I dunno if its just normal or i'm retarded....or maybe i should get it checked out.

Anyway, after that ramble, glad to hear your ok (well in 1 piece!) and shame about the bike. But bikes can be replaced, you can't!
