Ive been filling up at the same tesco's store for the last year, 2/3 times a week, never had been asked or even wanted to take it off.

I dont think the issue is anything to do with race as its not race that dictates who wears burcas, more religion Smile

If a christian has to remove a crucifix from there neck at school blah blah blah,

I worship bikes there fore my helmet is a mark of respect to the bike god or some shite like that.

Instead of ranting on about why should we take our lids of when they dont have to take there burkas of we should really be asking, Ok, we have to take our lids, balaclavas and so on off before we get served, which is fine as chavs have to remove there hoodies and whatnot, Ok again, this takes time but at least if anything happens it will be easy to identify us and therefore stop any hastle if something happened.
Having established that we are willing to do this, we think it only fair that other people with any covering of any sort (baring bandages or a huge plaster cast) over there head that obscures there identity should be asked to remove the cover. If they don't oblige to do so they must not get served in the same way as we dont get served.

Seems fair. It does not bother me in the least to be honest. It's no big deal and what led to the ban was a massive spate of armed robberies back in the 90s.

See that's what I find wierd. I can understand them asking you to kindly remove it as you enter the shop, but why when you're standing there, money or credit card in hand and they know you're there to pay and go, not rob the place?!

I had this at a new tesco store the other day, I was waiting for my change when the "supervisor" comes over and goes take off your helmet please... I declined. Just a bunch of jobsworths trying to throw their weight around Laughing

i only get hassled at the services on the M1

so i take bloody ages taking off gloves lid balaclaver earphones undoing top button soding about with my wallet, then doing the reverse after paying infront of the till,

you can hear people mumbling behind you so just turn round and say look this gezer wanted to undress me so im geting changed in the warm unless you fancy holding my stuff i'll leave it resting on the counter

We have no legislation which states we must remove any equipment/clothing to fill up or pay for fuel.

If you wish to remove anything you are at liberty to do so.
If you cannot be arsed and the filling station are anal about this then go elsewhere.

I go to the place that's cheapest for fuel and they couldn't care less if I was in full body armour or starkers.

Not an issue.

Why don't the supermarkets do something more usefull like sort the tracking on there effing trolleys?

Well the way , I see it if they want you to take your helmet off, Then do it. I do at most places. and the people behind me, in there petrol guzzling child/bike killers Aka Jeeps, Can wait untill im done putting all me gear back on. Last time I went to A bp. had about 4 cars behind me queing was peak time on a morning, While i just casually put my gear on. Razz

Had it happen last week at bp park royal, the one just after hanger lane going into london. Not only was i asked to remove my helmet i was asked to move pump first, this was apparently because the pump wasnt working. As soon as I moved to a different pump a car pulled up at the pump I was originally at and started using it no problem. one of the other people filling up their cars was wearing a hoody and wasnt asked to remove that.
The reason i object to removing my helmet is I dont like being branded a thief when ive done nothing wrong, which is why they ask you to remove your helmet so they can identify you incase you drive off. You dont see them asking other customers to remove items of clothing just incase they have identyfying marks so why should we have to remove helmets to identify us. If I hadnt needed to fill up i would definately have gone somewhere else and wont be filling up there again. If you want to take your helmet off then thats your choice just like its my choice not to.
Asking you to take your helmet off because you may ride off without paying is branding you and all other bikers as a potential thief.
How much outcry would there be if all muslims were branded potential islamic terrorists or all germans were branded potential nazis. The majority of people arent any of the these its just the minority who cause problems for the rest. I just dont like being labelled because of the minority.
