Hi all.

Anyone got any suggestions for a cheap generic topbox for my KLE 500? It has a luggage rack at the back, so I guess there must be some boxes out there that will fit it - the mounting mechanism on one that Andy C had up for sale looked like it would have done the trick. I carry my dutybelt to work wrapped up in a helmet bag on the back of the bike, but with the weather getting crappy, and the occasional need to carry other items or store my helmet, it'd be nice to get a 'box.

Anyone got any ideas or advice?

I've got a Charlie on the Road box lying around doing nothing, the guy whacked screws in the bottom (No pun intended) and used curved pieces of metal to stick it to the rack.

If you can get to an army surplus store there your best bet for cheap, old ammo cases are very solid and shouldn't be over £6 or so, knock some holes in the bottom, have pieces of aly or whatever to help bolt it on, the need to unbolt it in my experiance is few and far between..

Yeah ask me nicely and I'll give you a top box. If you want one with a lock and keys it'll cost you a tenner.

I've seen a few people do this sort of thing - a bit rough and ready for my tastes, I'm a bit of a new-bike tart. It can sometimes look pretty cool though, in a sort of Mad Max kind of way!

Any details on it?

Ok I'll pull one out at the weekend. It'll be a basic polisport one I used to use on the fleet bikes.

Just remembered I've got a small removable Givi with 2 keys you could have for £15 but no base. Could be drilled and screwed straight to a rack though.

If you don't get fixed up with sickpup, or for anyone else in the same boat, then M&P do the On2Wheels topboxes of various sizes (probably get them from other places as well) from £25 to £30. Web page info here.
