My Recent discovery

I have recenetly been lucky enough to try out another two bikes, most of you know i currently ride an sv650s 03 and love it to bits.

How ever went for a bike ride with my uncle and had a go on his triumph tt 600 and i really dont like it, the bike sitting posistion is bolt upright and seems heavy, also the clutch biting point is allmost when its completely out, wasnt very enjoyable ride.

My bike has gone into the garage today for a mini service a i asked for a loan bike so i could get back to work, they gave me a fazor 2000 or earlier i believe and i cant stand it. Again bold upright (try to sit futher back and your ars slides back again) and the clutch biting point is again allmost completely let out. The sound of it isnt great and the fact the bikes in terrbile condition and the rev counter doesnt work problably doesnt help my opinion of the bike.

My discovery is after having a bit of a ride on 2 bolt upright bikes, is that i just cant stand them. My uncle used to complain about his being to hard on his back :0 how lol. Theres nothing i like more than being hunched over and in a sporty / racing posistion thats half of what a bike is about to me, and sitting bolt upright really doesnt do anything for me. Even if the bolt upright bikes are faster, its all about the posistion and enjoyment from the SV for me.

Is it just me or does anyone else feel this way?

I can't ride for long with clip ons and rearsets - knees and wrists hurt too much unless illegal rates of travel are maintained (on my GSXR 750 the most comfortable cruising speed was 120mph, not good). I like flat or "superbike" style bars for sub 80mph comfort and ease of slinging the bloody thing into corners. Alot of it is down to the individuals body shape / height, what one person can't bare for 10 miles might be fine for someone else.

I was under the impression the SV was a bit of an upright fazer style bike? The one's I've parked next to, definately had a more relaxed riding position than my 636, with less of a reach to the bars I would have thought the tt600 would be more like my ninja...

*edit* just re-read and saw its the "S" model, so I guess its got a sportier riding position?

I find sitting bolt upright on the Cagiva makes my back, shoulders hurt way too much

I prefer clip-ons as well personally, though if it's higher, I want proper wide bars, none of this middle-of-the-road stuff.

But remember the SV is also available in an 'upright' guise as well.

Also, on the TT, despite having a quite layed back position for a sports bike, it's still quite possible to 'hunch' properly if you try.

Clutch biting point can be adjusted with a little twist of the finger and with time you get used to using bikes with varying biting points.

I agree soulrider.

Your SV is in the middle, a road bike with sportyness thrown in. You have best of both worlds, like me. both my machines are in the middle I find for rising position - I can happily sit bolt upright or get myself so far in I look through the screen for my view.

The best bike is an all rounder, long may they live
