I have recenetly been lucky enough to try out another two bikes, most of you know i currently ride an sv650s 03 and love it to bits.

How ever went for a bike ride with my uncle and had a go on his triumph tt 600 and i really dont like it, the bike sitting posistion is bolt upright and seems heavy, also the clutch biting point is allmost when its completely out, wasnt very enjoyable ride.

My bike has gone into the garage today for a mini service a i asked for a loan bike so i could get back to work, they gave me a fazor 2000 or earlier i believe and i cant stand it. Again bold upright (try to sit futher back and your ars slides back again) and the clutch biting point is again allmost completely let out. The sound of it isnt great and the fact the bikes in terrbile condition and the rev counter doesnt work problably doesnt help my opinion of the bike.

My discovery is after having a bit of a ride on 2 bolt upright bikes, is that i just cant stand them. My uncle used to complain about his being to hard on his back :0 how lol. Theres nothing i like more than being hunched over and in a sporty / racing posistion thats half of what a bike is about to me, and sitting bolt upright really doesnt do anything for me. Even if the bolt upright bikes are faster, its all about the posistion and enjoyment from the SV for me.

Is it just me or does anyone else feel this way?

Bring back the SV Thumbs Up

Only got to wait till 4:30 when i get of work so not to long till my baby's back

I was under the impression the SV was a bit of an upright fazer style bike? The one's I've parked next to, definately had a more relaxed riding position than my 636, with less of a reach to the bars Mr. Green I would have thought the tt600 would be more like my ninja...

*edit* just re-read and saw its the "S" model, so I guess its got a sportier riding position?

S has clip-ons and a half-fairing, whereas the naked version has straight bars I believe.

Thumbs Up its the sport posistion or nothing for me. The sv650s is more of a sporty posistion and is half the reason i love it, i was expecting the TT 600 to be alot more sporty posistioning than mine and was shocked when i got on it. My rs125 was really sport like posistion and to be honest i never found it uncomftable, sometimes my bollocks needed re adjusting for comfort but other than that sport riding posistions are fine for me.

Im guessing BLUEX5 is right on saying thats its just down to the person and their needs and style etc.

I prefer clip-ons as well personally, though if it's higher, I want proper wide bars, none of this middle-of-the-road stuff.

But remember the SV is also available in an 'upright' guise as well.

Also, on the TT, despite having a quite layed back position for a sports bike, it's still quite possible to 'hunch' properly if you try.

Clutch biting point can be adjusted with a little twist of the finger and with time you get used to using bikes with varying biting points.

I agree soulrider.

Your SV is in the middle, a road bike with sportyness thrown in. You have best of both worlds, like me. both my machines are in the middle I find for rising position - I can happily sit bolt upright or get myself so far in I look through the screen for my view.

The best bike is an all rounder, long may they live Mr. Green

The pointy faired SV650's (2003+) have clip-ons. The curvies (99-02) do to, but the pointies also have a fair old reach to those clip-ons which combined with their high footpegs results in quite a sporty riding position. To many who sit on mine, particularly those coming off sports 600's from around 2000-2003 such as a zx6r J1/2 or R6 find it particularly harsh. The same also works in reverse so when I or another SVS rider sits on or rides a sports 600 like an R6 the first thing we notice is how short the reach to the bars is. Those bars may be the same height or even lower than the SV's, but as they are so much closer it means you sit more upright.

The naked SV650 has handlebars instead of clip-ons. I posted these pics up in another post yesterday, but they seem to be relevent to this topic as well, so here you go!! They show the different riding positions between the two versions:

https://www.media.suzuki.com/svlaunch/images/positions.jpeg
https://www.media.suzuki.com/svlaunch/images/SV650S_SV650.jpeg

Seating position obviously makes no real difference to the fact the SV is still fairly budget, but the newer pointies are a lot better than the old curvies (Sorry G - has to be said at some point Laughing ) and overall they handle and ride very well for what they cost to buy. I certainly still like mine, even after having rode a fairly wide selection of better bikes now Thumbs Up
