Razz

The GF has a collection of stamps from a few years back, she wants to see how much she can get for them, but she doesn't know where to take them.
Anyone know what sort of place can do this/

Thanks

Look in the yellow pages at antiques dealers, they should be able to point you in the direction of some in the know Thumbs Up

LMFAO, are you ever not trying to make a quick couple of quid? Laughing

You need to find a sustainable way to make money. If they're expensive stamps, you can still only sell them once.

You'd be better of selling services of some kind. They don't run out you see. Wink

You must admit Killa that you do ask some really fucking stupid questions that with just a few moments thought or a google search you could answer yourself.

I have had some priced on a site i found through Google, but if you got to a website what do you think you do?
Wave the stamps infront of a web cam and some hot blonde stamp dealer says "£3".

No, you have to look at every individual stamp (There are a lot), most of which don't have the information you need on printed on them (and i can't read some languages) and so you end up with a huge list of a similar stamp from two decades ago.

I've never actually seen a stamp dealer before, possibly because there isn't one close by, i've looked it up and i have to travel.
I don't think it matters what someone asks on the forum, you either, don't bother replying, or you just tell them where to look.
Which had already been done.

Killa, a google search on stamp dealers cheltenham shows 2 in gloucester at the top of the list.

M & C Stamps
Unit 30 Antiqies Centre
Severn Rd, Gloucester, GL1 2LE
01452 506 361

Severn Valley Stamps
27 Chosen Way
Hucclecote, Gloucester, GL3 3BH
01452 616 952

I then looked in the yellow pages and fuck me there were more in there. Spooky.

Post on the forum when you have taken a shit and I am sure someone can come and wipe for you or maybe advise which hand is best to wipe with and which paper is best.

That's really sad VTR, trying to make me look silly by doing it for me.

I put 'stamp dealers Cheltenham' in google and got some in Gloucester, i live in Cheltenham, what did you think i meant by travel. Rolling Eyes Middle Finger

There is something seriously fucking weird about people on forums, i doubt very much if someone you've just met asked you in the pub...
"Hey i found some old stamps the other day, my old man collected them, where can i get them valued?"

Then some prick starts laughing at you because he thinks you trying to make a quick buck by selling them, personally he'd have the rest of my 1664 over his head for being a dick head.

Then are you telling me VTR, that you'd tell someone it's a 'fucking stupid question' To be honest from the past it wouldn't surprise me but i tend to get all high and mighty becuase they now exactly where to go to value stamps.

Nope... but how about if somebody came into the pub and asked hundreds of stupid fucking questions that he could easily find answers to himself, and also stated his ideas of making lots of money by... rapping... selling knocked off porn ... blah blah ... selling stamps...

Quite honestly I'd be wetting myself. And if the scrawny shit then tried to throw beer at me after I'd offered my advice (albeit with tongue in cheek at times) he'd be regretting it! Wink

Thumbs Down to smug gits who think they know everything. If people didn't ask questions like this then there wouldn't be much of a forum would there? Or would you prefer more threads about bints crashing without leathers, and 17yr olds getting good insurance quotes? Rolling Eyes

You've got a valid point Nath, but a forum filled with inane questions that can be answered in one simple google search doesn't make for an exciting forum either. Wink

Sometimes though, google searches turn up nothing but crap no matter how many different word combinations you put in. It just doesn't seem to be as good as it used to be.

Yes, but only for normal buses. You will need to ask the people that run the retirement village where you have to catch your "special" bus Wink

Jon, I think you could have approached my question differently, perhaps without the blatant piss taking and smug twat attitude.
I’m reminded by yourself time and time again how successful you think you are, how clever you think you are. How my posts are boring even though rated positively and how I should hang my head in shame. Rolling Eyes
This isn’t a money making scheme, they are not my stamps, and my missus asked the question.

I said to her, I’m sure there’d be a place you could take them to be valued, personally I thought an antiques shop but realise now there are stamp dealers. I thought I’d ask on BCF when I get a chance.
Sure enough the first two posts answered my questions, followed by the usual guff.

Liz doesn’t use the internet much but she recently joined the NME forum, she loves music, and has just bought a guitar to learn how to play.
Her question were along the lines of, I have a guitar and I want to practice in the best possible way, also her fingers hurt while playing, what can she do.
And surprise surprise twats like you start replying, all in no way a help to Liz, just a lot of piss taking for no fucking reason other than to try and look cool.

I had to explain why this happens on forums, you and the other regular ‘all mighty club’ were examples, it’s annoying but the decent non condescending members outnumber you 10 to 1.

And the point of all the 'unhelpful people' is that you haven't even tried to research the problem yourself first! You just come straight to BCF to get somebody else to look for the answers you need for you.

Quite honestly, if you'd asked about the guitar stuff I'd have given you a straight answer. That info, whilst available online, isn't quite as easy as looking in www.yell.co.uk for 'Stamp Dealers in Cheltenham'.

Also, if this was your first pointless question, whilst you might get one or two replies about looking in Google yourself, but you'd get far more useful replies than you got here. I've lost count of the stupid questions you've asked, and can only conclude that you're simply too lazy to look for the information yourself.

Yes, I've been an awkward twat in this thread, but for a valid reason - you need to start looking for this shit yourself. It's really not that difficult.
