I recieved a fine and 3 points for not having a rear L plate yesterday (Shocked)...

I have 28 days to pay this fine, and it says something about how when I pay my license wll be endorsed...

If I accidentally develop amnesia, will the points still be on my license?

I've had two FPNs before that I decided not to pay - One for laying into someone in a town centre for giving me abuse, and another for "not being in full control of my vehicle" (Shaking my hands from stiffness after a long ride).

Just wondering what the consequences might be, etc...

There's a little more to it as well which i'll add when I havea few minutes spare.

Not the best news Sad

Okay, the other part...

When I got pulled over I had an estate car pull in behind me and about 2 seconds later a saloon car pulled infront... the coppers joked about "I saw hiim first", and such. I had been going about 45mph but neither had proof, hence being fined for L plates instead.

Anyway, the two officers from the estate car cautioned me and gave me a talking to about watchiung my speed and such, gave me credit for having an actual interest instead of just being another moped rider (I ride an RS125, was wearing textiles and such)... just told me to be careful and get my L plates sorted... how I wouldn't want points, etc.

Officer #3 from the saloon car is writing stuff down on the boot of his car, the estate officers close their pitch and get ready to be going on their way and ask what the other is doing... "A yellow", or something.

They leave and he is coming out with "I'm not as soft as those two, i'm fining you and giving you three points". What the fuck?

Pathetic bastard. So... i'm shafted then, eh? Lesson learnt I guess.

just pay it mate.
i went through a gatso at 35mph in a 30 zone about 3 years back, got a letter through the post - 60 quid fine and 3 points. however, i promptly forgot about it and 2 years later i ended up with a bailif at my front door. the case had gone to court and it ended up costing me 300 quid - and the bastards still put 3 points on my license not so long ago when i had the address changed.... Rolling Eyes
so yeah, just pay it now before it gets worse Thumbs Up

Harsh but fair im afraid. L plates are required if your a learner and if you didnt have them then your fair game. If your going to not use L plates dont attract attention to yourself by speeding! Count yourself lucky he didnt go into whether your bikes 14bhp or not!

Take it on the chin and be a man.

Fair enough, might as well get it payed.

BUT... do the points only come into effect after I pay the fine? I mean... is it worth me sorting out a 600cc bike being insured before the points take effect?

Whats the point? Once your point end up on your licence and you fail to inform your insurers you will be riding without insurance and become a nuisance.

Pay the old ones best get them off the government computers , government will now sell to baliffs who will turn £60 fines into £6000 fines by adding their own illegal but generally uncontestable fees ontop BBC ran a baliff proggie to the effect of this,

with the Rear L Plate , you should have lied and said shit it was there when I got on musta come off , or you should have snapped it in half and put it in your pocket pulling it out saying it fell to bits

= let off in best case

worse case = the endorsable offence you have now!

but your a learner display thee plates!

So let me get this straight.

Quote:
I recieved a fine and 3 points for not having a rear L plate yesterday

Quote:
and another for "not being in full control of my vehicle"

Which I believe is worth another three points?

I would get these sorted out NOW, while you are still on a provisional. If you do your test then get hit with six points, your licence will be revoked.

You may also find that next time you are stopped, you find yourself handcuffed in the back of the car and spending the night in the cells at the local magistrates court when they issue a warrant for your arrest for non-payment of fines.
