I picked this up on Monday, and finished it off today - another excellent sci fi novel from one of my favourite authors. Anyone else read it, or others in the 'Agent Cormac' series?

For me, his universe strikes the right balance between amazing hyper-technology and good ol' recognisable military sci fi.

Might give this one a go - not read anything 'great' since Night's Dawn. Just finished off The Traveller which was ok, pace was a bit odd, but intros a decent trilogy.

lol - I remember the Steel Rat...got the piss taken out of me at school for taking it out of the library Rolling Eyes (so I changed the admin passwords on the library computers to 'stainless' Laughing )

Yes, very similar concept, although more serious, it does a very good line in AI sarcasm from time to time.

Start with 'Gridlinked' - that's the first in the series and introduces the character/background.

Night's Dawn was superb, although I thought his obsession with future-sex got a little dull after a while - typical geek stuff! Excellent grasp of all his various storylines though.

The Traveller was a pile of poo. My housemate got it through his book-club thing, and foisted it on me. What a load of post-matrix-wannabe junk!

As for the 'future sex' thing, I guess I didn't mind it so much when weighted against the really quite clever storylines that lead you from 'what the hell is going on now!?!?' to 'ohhhhhhhh - cool!'...

I've left my next books at work - working at home this week so no new stuff till Monday Sad
