Why did I save the first bike drop for the new one rather than the ratty Divvy? Sad

Parked up outside my garage on side stand, opened garage, started bike up and the thing lurched off forwards, off the stand and down before I could fully catch it. Took the brunt of the weight but had to lay it on it's side.

One scuffed mirror, bar end and clutch lever, a bit more scuffing on the crank case cover, the exhaust end and a tiny bit of damage to the fairing.

Bollocks. Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad

Good job the engine cut as soon as it started to move (I swear it was in Neutral and I always pull the clutch in when starting. It was cold outside so possably a oil viscocity thing?) otherwise it would've dragged itself along the concrete....

Bumsticks. Sad

Yeah I know. I normally pull in all the levers when starting the bie, was just too tired to realise I wasn't doing it properly I guess. Sad

May I suggest you invest in a set of R&G's Wink Granted you have to drill a hole in a zzr600's fairing to fit them, but it looks neat when done correctly (it's also very easy to do). They won't save your levers and bar ends in a drop, but will provent engine and frame scuffs/cracks. Who knows, they may also save you bike if you slide down the road on day too! For £50 that's a small price to pay IMO.

Shouldn't have started with side stand down and clutch out, sidestand & clutch switch should have prevented it. Confused

Mine won't start with the bike in gear and the side stand down, unless the clutch is held in. After you've started it, if you put it in gear and let out the clutch with the stand still down, it cuts out immediately - before it moves.

Sure all the switches are working?

I had a bit of a grip on the clutch so it was enough to let it start. It lurched once and cut out so the switches are working, but it was just enough to kick it off the stand and down. like I said, it was cold last night and you know when you get that lurch when starting, even if the bike is in neutral, due to cold and gloopy oil? I guess it was that.

The bike's been dropped before I had it so the marks blended in Smile , well all apart from the mirror which is a bit gutting. Could've been worse, could have smashed the indicator lens or cracked the fairing...

Crash protectors and bar ends are about £75 quid all in so I might pick some up over the weekend. It's a shame the exhaust protectors cost 35 quid a pop and I've two rear tubes... Sad

Unlucky mate. Sad
Though maybe you should have considered using a different title for your thread...

Bad luck. Can't say I ever had anything like this happen to me. A false neutral perhaps?
