But is that a 'claimed' 190hp - if so we're only talking a little more than a zx10.

Here's a thought. If Ducati and MV keep upping the prices of their bikes. Does this mean that the general price of new bikes are likely to rise?

Yes, but they're also claiming 200bhp with the open mufflers. And also claiming a 315kph limited top whack.

The price of high end bikes will probably rise as they get more and more extreme with the competitiveness.

Thought ducati have been coming down if anything?

Can't see it effecting the comptition for the general sports bike market as these are often status symbols bought to show you've got lots of money.

Yeah, but with the introduction of the Desmosidici at 37k, it's another bike with a high price tag. Smile

Yes, but ZX-10=cheap kawasaki jap crap that there will be thousands of, with optimistic jap willy waving power claims.

Mv=one of 100, italian hyper bike with little competition and no need to lie about powerr claims.

Sounds like hes gonna have a good time, nothing wrong in that.

Onto the topic, i wouldn't give 80k for that, i could get a supercar for that money.

If you had 80k to spend on a bike...

I don't think you'd really be worrying where the next meal would be coming from. The chances are 'that 80k' would be the tip of the iceberg. Besides, it's not a case of you buying one, it's MV deciding if you should have one.

Exactly! Laughing Palmer, I'd have thought you'd understand this; someone spending 80 grand on a bike isn't going to be worried about the value for money aspect, they're just going to care whether they've got the coolest, fastest, most expensive bike in the county. Rolling Eyes

They 'claim' 175hp at the crank for the 1000cc bike - so similar to the Jap bikes. Whether that figure is provable is another matter.

There is little competition for an £80k bike about from stupidly expensive custom builds.

However there is a lot of competition for the superbike level of bikes, which I presume this is trying to compete.
The kawasaki riders on their 'common' bike will probably feel rather smug if the person sitting next to them actually has a bike only slightly faster than theirs; yet has spent ten times as much.

Never mind if they come to crash one - though, accepted, I'd expect the majority of people that can buy one probably just used half of last week's wages, so aren't too bothered.

I'm not rich. At this moment in time i have a tenner, of which i earned. And thats got to last until monday. Just because my family is 'wealthy' doesn't mean im rich. It doesn't mean i have 24/7 access to a big room fillied with gold and jewels. I'm a normal 16 year old, all be it with something to fall back on if my plans get fubared.

Please, enough about the money. It's not mine, and i don't want it.

Even if i could spend 80k on a bike, im not sure i would.

I would definitely buy that bike, because if i was in a situation to realistically consider that option, it would mean i had a hell of a lot more than 80k in my bank.

The thing is what would it cost you to insure and who would touch you unless you were a 100 year old nun with 80 years NCB living on a remote scottish island with the only other transport being a wheelbarrow and a horse!

Remember, people own and get insured on very fast two tonne (or whatever) cars that cost a lot more and could do more damage than this bike.

The sort of people that have those cars are the target audience for this, I expect.

Oh right, you're the rich one. That wasn't a pop at you, just a statement in general.

They are claiming rather more for this latest spec ones, and power wise their claims tend to be rather more accurate than the Japanese ones.

If you want the best then you have to pay for it.

Err, fun in a way but not sure I want to ride something regularly where throttle lag can be measure with a calender.

All the best
