Good day. Nice to meet Zimbo as well as Icey and Wilson.
Think maybe my usual advice of getting faster slowly might apply to small bikes as well Zimbo Wink.

As bendy said, I finally got a trophy for /something/ (and quite an impressive one, considering we didn't even get a print out of the times, last time!)

A few pics, trying to sort out video; though gutted I didn't get the last kart race - had some great battles with Wilson, but he managed to keep a well fought 1st place.

My hips ache like nothing else!

A few observations.

Mini-motos are fun.
G is quick.
Ste is a liability in a go-kart (to the point that people spectating were boo-ing him as he came round)

I think 3 or 4 of us on the mini-motos had 33s best laps. G's was a full 2 seconds faster!

Anyway, G, any chance you can upload your onboard vids?

Nice to meet the people I havn't met before! Nice to see the others again that I have done!

Still plenty of bits I think I could get quicker - like not bottling it and holding it on full pelt all the way around the back corners for a start - though those walls do look awful solid, even for one of my nature Razz.
So anyone wanna go play again sometime - maybe a free practice night? (if my back don't feel too bad tomorrow, anyway).

Minimoto practice is encoding as we speak, will try and get it up tonight. Other two will be tomorrow.

Note that oddly, in some cases the corners on the minimoto actually look more upright than some on the karting vid, thanks to the way I'm holding my head/hanging off.

Note that the quality is a bit iffy due to some very harsh lighting conditions - a dark hanger with large doors open at either end - resulting in really bad glare. Generally, though, I'm pretty impressed with the camera setup.

This has been reduced to 46mb, so not about 5th the size, but still a fair chunk as it's just the unedited track time, so may not be of interest to those that weren't there.

https://www.giffould.com/r/vids/20061014/minimotopractice.wmv (45mb)

Second vid uploading...
https://www.giffould.com/r/vids/20061014/minimotorace.wmv (55mb)
It reckons it should be uploaded by 1:40am (sunday 15th), or a bit before.

Do you know, i think you might just be right there G! On reflection I think I was just trying to go too fast too early, my head felt that as it was a race this is what I should do, and I didn't have time to reflect on it logically! I was keeping it pinned wide open on the back corners, which was great as long as you controlled the slide, but when it slid out you find yourself heading for the tyres at a fair rate and after the third heavy crash in two laps I thought I'd better stop before I hurt myself! Good fun though, there's a surprising amount of grip available but those things are really unstable!!!
Anyway, good event, well organised, nice to meet you all and thanks for feeding me as well!

First time I did minimotos (quite a while ago now Confused ), I think I crashed ten times in thirty minutes track time - and that was on a lot grippier track surface as well!

I wasn't holding the throttle fully open right around the back, seems maybe that was a good idea! It's probbly best to test the limits of traction on the slower corners Smile, though there is the old addage 'go fast in the fast corners'.

I was quite often getting little slides on the slower corners and if you look a fair bit into the race-video you'll see me half save a slide on the first of the back corners when I try and take a widerline.

As ever I had an awsome time, gutted I was taken out on the first hairpin on the go kart race - I think it would have been a great scrap between me an Chris Twisted Evil. Still made it from last on the 1st lap to 3rd at the end Thumbs Up

A bit of a shame there weren't more for Minimotos, would have been fun to be chasing someone other than G Wink (Damn he's FAST!).

A big thanks has to be said to G for providing the food Thumbs Up Karma and doing the BBQing as well.

Will definately be up for it again, as long as it fits around work.

Used to go a few years ago.
Can't remember it quite like that, but do remember it similar - they do change it quite a bit.

They're getting more and more professional looking - and now have lap timing stuff for this sort of event. Even got a 'briefing room' with a sofa and a couple of arm chairs Smile.

Looks like we might be going again sometime in the next few months - if enough people are actually serious about it.

That lap timing system was a bit dodgy to say the least Very Happy

Nb, that is a really old layout for Hullavigton, I'm pretty sure that straight across the front of the track was taken out about 3 years ago Shocked

Think the indivdual lap times were ok themselves - just got a bit confused with where people ended up.

Got your kart lap sheet here, by the way.
