Engine Oil Leaking from Clutch Rod thingy.

Right this may sound like a stupid question but with the clutch slave cylinder off of the engine and manually pusing the rod in by hand should oil piss out?.. basically i have a small oil leak and i looked over for it today and found that to be the most probable cause as it only leaked oil after going a run and not idling etc (i.e. not using the clutch)

here's a pic of my old engine with the clutch rod so you know what i'm talking about..

is this supposed to leak when pushed in or do i have a fooked seal?

Seriously.

I don't think you should have ANY oil coming out the clutch hydraulic system.

Or did you mean Brake/Clutch Fluid?

no that's the case from my old engine as stated on the original post lol.

i was just showing tha tpic so you could see the rod thingy i'm talking about.. that pic is when my chain snapped and cracked the casing due to the chain pushing against the sprocket and casing.

and it's defo engine oil coming out. and the oil ain't coming out of the cluthc hydraulic system, that's elnclosed seperate from the engine.. it's where the rod goes into the block.

You will need to look at the cover gasket to make sure it is a sealed compartment.

Normally you would expect to have some kind of lip seal or o-ring seal on a moving shaft.

Not sure of the design form the piccy so best ask the dealer about config.

But then they'll be shut till Monday and you want it fixed now.

lol, cheers, i did have a quick look at it but doesn't seem to be any visible type of seal other than a flush fit but i'll check it out and ask the dealer anyway.. don't need the bike back together just now anyway..

well i know what it is now.. a common problem by the look of it.

"Oil leaks around the slave cylinder area: These are usually due to the clutch push rod wearing and engine oil weeping out. The rod is made of aluminum and it wears out rather quickly. You can actually see the wear at where it rubs against the seal. Funny how aluminum wears out against rubber. Try changing the rod first. If it still leaks than you will have to change the seal. If you could get someone to fabricate a rod out of steel, it would be a lot more durable, especially against stronger clutch springs. Also the slave cylinder itself can leak 'brake' fluid. Rebuilding is an option but check the bore of the assembly for corrosion from infrequent flushes as complete replacement may be necessary instead of rebuilding."
