I bought some second hand leathers that have some stuck on lettering which is crap and tacky

the former owner said its easy to remove this lettering with paint thinners

is this right ? would this be methylated sprites, white spirit ? turps ? what ?

the lettering on the fabric part of the suit came off easily, but i had a little tug at a letter on leather and it took off the coloured surface of the leather with a bit of the leather

Next time you get a Kleeneze catalogue through your door, ask the rep to get you a bottle of 'sticky stuff remover', thats what its actually called, bloody magic stuff too. I would expect you to be able to soad the lettering off with that substance.

yeah i think painting the letters might be a good option for the moment, but i still wd like to have them off even if im left with the marks of the lettering on the leather

and yes its true, im no rossi, which is why its even more important for me to get these letters off

there is more on the legs that says galouise or something

What ever chemical, solvent or alcohol you use, test on a small hidden away area first to check for colour run/marking. A lot of the stronger cleaners such as cellulose thinners (paint thinners), white spirit, meths etc may also remove the leather dye in the process Wink
