 |
|
I need some advice on removing a screw. Now this isn't from a bike, but that doesn't make a great deal of difference to the advice I guess.
I bought a new hedge trimmer in the summer. Father-in-law kindly offered to trim the hedge whilst he was down here recently and prompty cut through the cable about 12 inches from the tool itself. I know I can get a connector (permenant or quick fit) however I'd rather just open the trimmer and refit the wire.
I finally got round to buying a screwdriver that fits (torx 20) and removed all of the screws with a screwdriver from Halfords

Bar one. That screw has a prong in the middle, rather like this:
https://www.pavoniexpress.com/torxscrew.jpg
and my screwdriver has a flat end so it can't make contact with the torx pattern. Maybe this is some kind of anti-tamper screw? Anyway, I need a screwdriver like this:

with the little hole in the middle.
Any ideas? It has to be a scredriver rather than a socket as the screw is down a hole which is only just big enough to admit a screwdriver diameter. ____________________ Current bike: Kawasaki Z750S |

Ford have those star shaped heads with a raised middle on their interior fixings. I tried to change a seat belt in the wifes Ka and found it impossible without the correct fitting head. I suspect that they are a form of anti tampering measure, so a head may be hard to come by. ____________________ Current : MSX 125 Past : CBR 900RR Monkeybike : c50 LAC : ZXR750 H2 : FZR600 : ZX7R P3 : YW100 : TRX850: Trophy 900 T309 : GSXR 600 L0: Monkeybike : XJ6S Whosthedaddy |

Thanks, searched on T20 tamperproof and found this site:
https://www.tooled-up.com/
which seems to stock it for a couple of quid. Thanks to you, I'll have to order a load of other stuff to make the postage worthwhile!
Thanks ____________________ Current bike: Kawasaki Z750S |

Tooled-Up.com - Very good tool supplier, the delivery on small items is like 50p for a drill bit or £2.50 for a socket wrench. ____________________ Yamaha SZR660 Caution to the wind, the throttle pinned! |

You should get the bcf safety award for effort to repair the trimmer flex.
Most folk would think nothing of a Twist 'n' Tape repair.
Best of luck. ____________________ W-ireless A-rtificial L-ifeform L-imited to O-bservation P-eacekeeping and E-fficient R-epair |
