 |

Just decided to go for a ride an hour or so ago, roads are empty and i have been forced to stick at 30mph on a 50cc ped , so as you can imagine i was giving it the beans...
I approach a sweeping corner onto a roundabout (everything empty) well too fast for it, around 70ish maybe more, I realise i am going in too hot so i consciously dont brake, and just lean harder, a split second later i realise it is tightening up even more some weird double apex and i cant get through, i stand the bike upright for about a sec and give it full brakes, lean back in hard with some heavy trail braking on the rear brake, the back looses traction and its fuckin sideways, in that moment the bike feels like its gonna either lowside or im gonna smash into the massive fuckin kerb, in my mind i think "IM NOT COMING OFF!!!" i must have kept saying it to myself and i manage to slow down enough just to miss the end of the right side of curb where it joins the roundabout.
Im glad i saved it and pissed i overcooked it... My heart is still beating fast... |

He was excited,
He became more excited,
He came into a bend too fast,
He realised it got tighter,
He stood it up and braked,
He leant it in harder,
He lost the backend,
He saved it from going down,
He is a hero,

I had simular experiance about a week ago, had been out for about an hour or so riding and come up to this bend i knew to be tight.
Saw my mate lean and thought ahh ill try leaning it, was hitting the bend at probably just under 30mph, was leaning over and realising im right over (wasnt over completely because theres still 1cm band round edge of back wheel) and getting further from the white line, look towards side of road and relise im going for the curb leaning.
Straighten the bike up, both wheels go up over the curb and bike goes mad and wobbles all over the place, some how managed to get both wheels back on the road and carried on, my heart was racing faster than my bike. One moment i thought thats it im of, but then i remember my instructor saying just bump up the curb and i thought fuck it, im not giving up and im still shocked i made it. Must have slowed down fair bit by the time i hit the curb but was to close for comfort that one.
Makes you realise how well you need to know a turn before you can start pushing yourself around them. Glad i was able to learn form the experiance, and glad to hear you mace it out the other end fine ____________________ My Bike Pics |

I wasent on a ped, i was on a 500, i was riding faster than usual because my new job requires me to ride a ped all day... reading back my original post i can see how it would be confusing for anyone who doesent know about my shed GS500...
Would have been impressive if i had got sideways on a ped though |
