ok... so today I got my hair cut and colored, and it ended up being shorter than I'd expected, and a bit darker than I'd expected. I had said "auburn" but I don't think they took into account the fact my hair was already red.

My hair is also shorter than it's been in about 6 years. It's not too bad; I had it shaved at one point, and this is nowhere near what I'd call short short. It falls to my shoulders still.

But at the same time, I'm still trying to get used to it. I walk past a mirror and take a double-take becuase it looks like someone else looking back at me.

Have any of you had a really drastic change in your appearance? shaved your head, cut or colored your hair? Massive amounts of wight loss? (would like that to be my next change Wink )

Well.. where do you want me to start?

To sum it up I was having a conversation in work with one of the lads and he asked how come women go to the hairdressers, Pay loads of money for it to be styled and then don't like it until X amount of people have raved over it?
I said.. I dont...
He said, Yeah but You change your hairstyle more often than I change my socks!

My Hair history...

When I was young my mother only ever took 1/2 an inch off every full moon... It was at one time down to the backs of my knees!
But unfortunately there was a headlice epidemic and my mother refused to go through it with a nit comb (I don't know what it's called in the US, a very fine toothed metal comb like you'd use on a dog with short hair perhaps?) So she had it all cut off into a 'pageboy' style bob!
I kept it relatively short during secondary school as I was so active, it was easier... By the time I reached year 10 (form 4 for all us older UK residents) I had it all shaved off with only a bright red fringe and a small amount at the back!
By 18 It had grown back to maybe shoulder length and I left it a couple more years only having the occasional trim! (It grew back in fantastic condition! Thumbs Up )

Eventually after dying it purple when it reached down to my elbows, my ex husband started to moan about me paying 20 pounds to have an inch taken off it so the day before I was due to go on holiday I had it cut off to long at the front and short at the back. Dyed red with white stripes!
Instead of growing that out, I had braids down to the small of my back (artificial hair)
Then had it all lopped off again and dyed Jet Black!
In the process of growing it again! It's back to my natural colour but I'm already planning my next style!

Ok I've Hi-Jacked your thread.. I'm sorry...

ooOooo and I went from 24 inch waist up to size 22 (Uk size) in less than a year (might have been something to do with giving up a certain drug Embarassed )... then 2 years ago, lost it (almost overnight) back to a size 12 (on a good day!)

I lost seven stone in weight.
(Yes yes yes I was a huge fat bloater.)

It took a long time though, so didn't quite have the same immediate impact that a new hair style does. Wink

whenever I cut my hair or have a shave , and or wear my glasses (I don't actually need them) I look completely different.

that said I am sporting a monster mullet at the moment just to see how long I can grow it before anybody says anything.

I coloured my hair from blonde, to chocloate brown. I loved it but it did take a huge amount of getting used to, I kept jumping at my own reflection whenever I walked past shop windows. Laughing

I got told the other day that I don't look the same in any pictures of me Confused Right now hair is peroxide and quite long, (longer when the extensions are in) but I've had it black, dark brown, blue, pink, short, long, fringe, no fringe, layered, bobbed. This is how much of a change I've had in 6 months

Have to agree it is a weird sensation to see yourself having changed so much. Do you feel better for the change? Are you happy with it?

Actually, I do like the change. It's weird having people actually not recognise me at work. I had one of the AEs ask me "can I hep you find your class?" today. I smiled and said "I'm one of the Instructors, but thanks." and then recognition dawned on his face. Very Happy it was priceless!

You do look different in your pics; the color of your hair affects the coloring of your skin and how bright your eyes look. I'll be honest, i think you're much prettier with the dark hair; it makes your blue eyes stand out, and your skin looks creamier. With the blonde, your skin looks very rudy, and it washes all the other color out.

I tried blonde once, and it did the same thing to me. (as an aside: whoever it was who said blondes have more fun was never a redhead) Wink

Here's my hair now: (for a before, look at the pic in my profile)

Lost 2 stone in about 3/4 weeks. Went through a weird stage and didnt eat anything apart from the odd sandwich and drunk shit loads of water.

Fainted in p.e., fell asleep in class and stuff. But the dumb ass teachers didn't even batter an eye-lid.

I looked great mind... Laughing
