In terms of Cities i'd say that Oxford is probably the nicest I have been too.

My favourite area of the UK thus far has gotta be the Norfolk Broads. Just lovely. Very Happy

This may be laughed at but ... where I actually live, Norwich, Norfolk. You get your crappy bits as you do everywhere but Norwich is a lovely city and I live just outside it in the countryside, the scenery around where I live is lovely.

I went to Liverpool a month ago and stayed a few days. I wouldn't say it was the nicest place in the UK but I thought the city was lovely and the majority of the people were soo nice! I got off the train, was trying to get my suitcase down some steps and a guy came straight over, carried it down the steps for me, and said he hoped I had a lovely visit! In most places he would have run off with it! Laughing I met 3 really friendly strangers in the first 10 minutes of being there. Thumbs Up

Lol, i had a feeling you'd say that dodsi.

I drove through oxfordshire and that was surprisingly nice for daan sarf. Lots of smooth fast roads surrounded by open countryside.

Up on the yorkshire moors is pleasant too. Very peaceful and isolated with hundreds of lakes, ponds and reservoirs.

Hale Village, Liverpool (In between Speke and Ditton, two of the rouhgest areas around LOL)

Forest Row, East Grinstead or Nutley, I'm torn between the two but my mate has a rather large house in Nutley and it's a lovely place to live. Spent most of my misguided youth in Forest Row/Ashurst Wood as well.

Cornwall/Devon , big cities nearby for all the city life , lots of country roads everywhere,

3 traffic cops for the entire county , which is a good think sometimes and an awful thing at other times.

cambridge is cool..

i moved down here almost 2 years ago, and I love the place.

a good mix of people, from all over the world (being a university town), it's got quite a cosmopolitan feel about it. it's not a massive city, so still has some character and some of the architecture is amazing.

and don't get me started on the 'view' in the summer Wink

MMmm lazy lunches in henry's by the river..

My favourite has gotta be Cornwall. I love it there, always have. I've managed to get down to Marazion a couple of times a year for a few years now & i'd move there in an instant.
2nd choice, might seem odd for a few people on here, But it would be Staffordshire. I have a static caravan there so I spent every weekend there from spring thru to autumn. Theres so many nice places there.
3rd choice. Wroxham. Just love the big sky and the broads in general.

There's a kind of Tea Shop/Fish and Chip Shop in Wroxham that do fish and chips, bread and a cup of tea for a fiver. It has to be the best fish and chips I've ever had. I recommend to all! Laughing

Little canal running through it and its not far outta beloved manchester!

Very peaceful and can be romantic if your with your boy/girlfriend!

Peak District / Derbyshire. Even thinking about the place makes me smile. Other than the Croatian coast (which I've only been to once so isn't exactly an accurate guide) I've never known another place that made me feel so utterly at peace just by being there.

Things got a little bit pear-shaped. I'd beaten up my first wife, and the guy she slept with, moved in with a GF I didn't love and was dating my current wife who I did, and do, love. Didn't have the wherewithal to get another apartment, so evacuation was the only real option. In a nutshell

sounds like an episode of soap
