Jinlun 125 Cruiser

Hi Guys and Gals,
Anyone got any experience with the Jinlun 125 cruiser, me and a mate have been looking at them as they seem keenly priced and look like the better end of the Chinese import market. I have looked at the owners club website and they all seem one-sided on there (obviously!), but they are the only Chinese bikes with an owners club, is that a good thing?
We are both looking for a cruiser to get started before doing the full test next year (both over 21), any ideas?
All help and advice greatly appreciated.

they do look good, saw them up close at the bike show (kind of) at Haydock park. One of the reasons I looked was because I have a cruiser style 125 Honda vt 125 shadow (sits well with me too - 6ft3 and 16 stone - I dont drown it) The jinlun looks a similar size to mine.

Hopefully mine will be going this week when I pass my test - after a bigger cruiser.

funnily enough i just noticed one parked up for sale down the road. it looked ok i guess, screen, pannier bags, etc etc, didnt catch the age but not very old. they want £1000 - if you're interested let me know and i'll get you the number

Hi, thanks for that guys, I have seen them new for £850, which seems like an awful lot of bike for next to nothing! I like the idea of a shadow tho!

Really nice looking cruiser & great as a first bike. I got mine last xmas & recently passed my restricted test on it. Laughing

Hi, yes I have and am looking at one tomorrow, along with a shadow a virago and an eliminator just to confuse the pile a bit!
Any experience that anybody has with these would be appreciated as well.

Like I have said - I have the honda 125 shadow - excellent bike - good handler (apart from u turn - but spose most cruisers are) once your used to the weight and size quite easy to throw around and control. Done 70mph no probs. get 80-90mpg from her no problem at all. runs all day and an eye catcher too. Lost count the number of people who cant believe she is a 125 legal bike. Comfortable as anything, once your used to that position.
I am 6ft3 16 stone and she handles me very well. lol

I'm sure they are much of a muchness.

My mate has one:

Looks nice enough but has rusted like hell on the forks and shocks nowhere else - less than a year old

Very ambitious speedo - was reading 70 where my CG was reading 63 ish

The petrol tank cover/fuel guage is very thin and has cracked on his.

The fuel guage also is very inaccurate as it only reads from one side of the tank.

IMO not the best bike for a learner but then again i had a CG !

Buy a CG get bored do your test get a bike you really want!

Hi there

Shame you plummed for a 2nd hand bike. I've a Jinlun JL250, and to be hones couldn't be happier with it. Runs perfectly, handles well, looks cool, and the 250, is pretty well suited to motorway driving, and has easily managed trips to London and manchester without a hitch.

They are a bargain, and if Jinlun did a big bike, I'd have gone for a jinlun instead of the Honda VTX1300.

The Jinlun feels bigger than the Suzuki GZ, which I've ridden as my partner has 1.

And to those who are asking whether the owners forum is real or not, it's real. Pity you've been led by the Chinese bike bashers, Jinlun bikes can be bought from a number of dealers around the country, and the bike shops don't in the main seem to have any issues when it comes to serviceing them, if you don't fancy doing it yourself.

Also just like there are Chinese parts on Jap bikes, there are Jap parts on the Jinluns.

Oh well, hope you enjoy riding your bike.

Put it this way, my brand new chinese cg-125 clone rusted and corroded like hell in 6 months.

the twenty year old japanese honda cg-125 that's in bits on my kitchen table, and was retrieved from a mates back garden, isn't as rusty.

apart from that, it was a fine bike to ride, no problems with it
