GSXR SRAD 6 (Y)

right just a quick question...

is the mixture the one next to the float bowls?

cause theres that 1 other then the drain screw so surely its that 1 yea? but anyway main question is............

when u do the "all the way in then 3 turns out" procedure on the mixture screw,(this is gonna be hard to explain) is 1 turn a full turn back to the side of the flathead u lined it from when u started the turn, or is it 1 turn from 1 side of the flathead to the other side? PLEASE SOMEONE TRY understand THIS! Laughing

ill try an example, right, say the L is the left side of the flathead & the R is the right side of the flathead

so it starts like L-R now a WHOLE turn would be back to it being L-R yea but the other way( so effectively not turning fully but could still be classed as 1) would leave it being R-L, yea WITH ME? Mr. Green so what way is the correct turn acting as 1 turn?

ok so its L-R back round to L-R again

so the flatheads right corner tip has to come back round again to were it started then, yea? rather then spinning it 180 i spose so the other sides corner tip is now in the starting positions place Mr. Green

yeah you need to turn it all the way around, ie a put a dot above the screw and a dot on the part of the screw below it, turn screw around till dot lines up again.

lads i could really do with some help here coz iv gotta upjet as its running VERY LEAN & the std mains i pulled out r like this...

carb 1 = 135
carb 2 = 132.5
carb 3 = 132.5
carb 4 = 135

is that right for my bike??

& when i up jet by 2 sizes should i do them up EXACTLY by 2 sizes so there 137 X2 & 134.5 X2? or should they all be same sizes??

The inner carbs should have the larger jets not the outer ones. There's more heat concentrated around the inner cylinders and the extra fuel aids cooling and prevents pre-ignition.

according to the manual for your bike the standard main jet sizes are 125 for 1 & 4, and 122.5 for 2 & 3, Just check them again to make sure the numbers are the ones you posted. These jet sizes are for E-03, 18, 28, 39 and 33 spec carbs with Id number 34E1 or 34E3 , the pilot screw should be between 3 1/4 and 3 1/2 turns out for carbs 1 & 4. and 2 1/4 & 2 1/2 turns out for carbs 2 & 3. The Id number for the carbs should be on the right hand side of the carbs just above the float bowl and to the left of the throttle position sensor.

just saying what the manual has for its specs thats why i said check the jets you took out. has the srad got any modifications eg k&n or is there an air leak making it run lean, or has it had dynojet kit fitted by a previous owner for an exhaust system?

sounds possibly whoever put the race can on had a dyno jet kit fitted. If you can check this out with them. If you fitted the k & n then possibly this is why it might be running lean as the filter should be allowing better airflow to the carbs. Speak to the people where you got the bike dynoed, ask them what size jets they would suggest for your bike with K & N and your exhaust system.

i did & he said go 2 sizes up

he also showed me 2 diff jets 1 being std & 1 being a dynojet jet & iv got my carbs near me right now & stripped them down & the jets DO look like the dynojet 1's he showed me! but how do you tell if there dynojet 1's?

these main jets just have a letter "R" on them & next to tat is a square Confused

i can post up the results but the optimal air/fuel mixture is 14 & mine on goes on tht @ 2thou revs after tht it raises more & more & @ 10thou revs its on 16! Shocked DANGEROUSLY LEAN!

ok fit the jets theyve suggested. wouldnt worry about identifying dynojet jets. Its sounds like it was jetted up for the exhaust. When youve fitted the k&n it needs jetting up again usually. As for mixture settings on your pilot screw only more dyno time will get it spot on (sure someone will disagree though Laughing )

The last time I bought jets was for a Z1300 and cant remember how much they were. £24 in total seems a bit expensive for 4 jets, and like you say if theyre not the right ones then your going to have to pay for another set. Its just a case of shopping around, you could pay to have it set up on the dyno then at least you know its got the right jets in and your air/fuel mixture is correct

The split in the thread is this in just one of the tubes, or is it in all four in the same place?

yea just money money money Sad

iw as told that if going up 2 sizes on the mains & it wasnt enuff then after doing tht raising the needles should sort it

i dunno cause that would be best way just the cost would be madness cause its a run on dyno(money) then setting up(more money) then re dyno ing again (EVEN MORE)

Sad

hopefully the place where you had it dynoed should be giving you the right info from experience and known settings. So going up two sizes should be right if thats what theyve reccomended. Then its just fine tuning.
I know dyno time is expensive ( had a load of engine work done on my k1 for racing and was for ever back and forth after fitting new bits ) but its the best way to get it set up correctly.

dint see this..

its in only 1 of them but its not were the main screws in to it, its the other end were the actual tube screws in to the carb & its THAT thread thats got a split
