Hi, I am looking at a 99' SV in good condition with a laser exhaust system (sounds the dogs). The bike has just had 2 new tyres fitted and a new chain and sprocket, and really looks good. How much should i be looking to pay? The bike is in a garage and they want £1895 for it... I'm sure i could knock a couple of hundred off that if i tried. I may also try and blag a restrictor kit whilst i'm at it.

That is too much. I know of a 10k miles SV for £995 I think, if it's still available.

I'll get a link.

Close to you too.

Cheers for the link! I'll have a look into that, however for 10k miles it looks a tad... tired. I guess at £950 beggars can't be choosers, however i would really like a mint one. I've done the whole 'buy a scruffy bike and make it look good' thing with the MZ, i'd really like something to be proud of now. This one in the garage is really shiny...

But what's it hiding?

Do you have any more information, mileage etc. ?

This bike I linked really is a bargain though. Thumbs Up You should ask on the forums I linked to, they are a wealth of knowledge. Thumbs Up

I've been back to the garage. The SV has done 27,000 miles, and rides like a dream (popped my ton cherry Wink ). I have however noticed it is a lot of money, no matter how nice it is. But it has shown me that i want an SV, preferably one with the laser exhaust system!

REmember, exhausts can be bought cheap after.

That does seem to be an awful lot of money for a 27k miler.

I was looking at offering mine at around £1.3k-£1.4k for a 20k miler.
That was a couple of months ago, shall have to look around when I do put it up.

in the same vein since UBG went down the pan how much should I pay for an NC30? 15K 1995, no visible damage , minor scratches on fairing, good tyres 12M T&T, all MOTs, 3 previous owners.

Especially at this time of year it's usually best to compare it to the rest of the market, maybe throw in some similar bikes as well to compare.
So get on adtrader, biketrader, loot etc and see what else is out there and how much for.

some people are asking insane money for things though , saw a tricked up NC35 for 4K the other day thought that was nuts, though sometimes as low as 900 to about 2000.

I paid £2,150 for an '03 pointy model.

That sounds a bit of a rip off.
