Not sure if it was it because it was Friday the 13th and so close to Halloween, but the GPZ750R under went a strange transformation.

You may have heard of the Vampire Motorcycle film, my 750 turned out to be a Werebike…photo's attached….Werebike….wee-er bike (boom, boom)

Advertised my GPz750R in the local paper and got a phone call asking if I would consider a swap for a K plate GPZ500S, complete with nexxus exhaust and alarm (though siren is not working). Duly went over to see it, its seemed an OK enough bike. Test ride was OK, not the most powerful bike and apart from failing to find the footpegs when taking away (they're further forward) the deal was done, making this the newest bike I have ever owned/ridden!!!

I still had reservations though as, to me, anything with less than 4 cylinders sounds like its misfiring...then I took it for a 200 mile run on Saturday

Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked

What a fantastic wee bike Very Happy , far lighter and shorter than the 750/900 making it hustle through the corners pretty well (over enthusiasm seeing the belly pan scrape along the road at one point though; do'h), a lot comfier and with better mirrors!; all in all a great time was had round all the wee back roads and it still returned in excess of 50 odd MPG...the 750 got about 38, which I couldn't justify commuting with when the cage gets the equivalent of 65+MPG!

So here it is in all its glory. Has got K&N's fitted, but going to fit the standard airbox soon, especially as its not been rejetted.

All in all chuffed to bits, have got a great wee commuter, even two up, that's a barrel of fun, and all at nearly legal speeds; speeds that that my 900 gets bored at. But have got that for the summer and days when the horizon really is too far away Twisted Evil

The shine was taken off, slightly, when reading up about the engines rotor magnets Confused, but will cross that bridge when I get to it, unless there are known, inexpensive cures...like a plastic collar that will fit in the housing, stopping them falling off...

Anyway, am basically telling everyone I can about these bikes; even had it all apart at the weekend and sorted out a couple of rust spot on the chassis!

Only thing I don't like is the side stand...it hold the bike far too upright for my liking; i may need to persuade it to let it lean over a bit further...

Had one of these (see my profile) and the side stand I found, to be a right pig, a few times i put it on the side stand and come back to find it on it's side because the slightest bit of wind had blown it over, strangely always got away with the minimalist damage though?

Enjoy your new toy!

The GPZ has to be the only bike i've ever had that was 'dropable'. I must have dropped mine at least 6 times in the first few months as I got used to handling a bigger bike Embarassed , yet each time none of the paint work would touch the deck!!! Just mirrors and levers which could be bent back to shape.

Mine was a D model to so has a wider front so an A model being narrower at the front should be even better.

This remains to be seen, seem to have a habit of collecting bikes. Got the 750 for a song as it was laid up for a year and the guy was needing the money, then saw the 900 on Ebay and got it really cheap, resolving that I would sell the 750 to get the money back that I paid for the 900. Got both bikes insured on a multi bike policy with ebikeinsurance and its not much dearer that one bike.

Thought of running the 750 over the winter, keeping the 900 for summer and recreational use, but it was not viable as a regular commuter due to poor mpg, so had to sell and as stated ended up swapping for the 500 Mr. Green

Had parked up in a garage forecourt, after filling up, put it on the side stand and luckily had a hand free when it decided that it would try and have a lie down; glad these things are light, reckon if it was the 750/900 rather than me arresting the topple I would have been launched, trebuchet fashion, across the garage forecourt!
