It'll return about 30 mpg. Probably a bit less because its old carb will no doubt be rather past it. Bit of a guzzler really Confused

No Laughing probably 4 or 5 quid to do 30 miles might be a bit better than that on fuel, but I'd expect it to be in pretty crap health after all these years, as a sierra isnt really the kind of car that gets looked after...

Diesels tend to be a little cheaper. My 1.9 Xantia used to do around 550 miles for £60.

If it was on motorways, more.

My 1.4i Civic does between 55 and 80 miles to £10 depending on how i drive it.

I'd expect around 50 miles to £10 on an old sierra if driven sensibly.

About £60 to £10 if it's running as it should. Not the best cars in the world so unless it's free i'd look for something else. You can get some very cheap Mondeo's and ime they are the best cheap all rounder.

Any predicitons on how much you'll use it? How far you'll be driving. I think these factors will make more of a difference that the age of the carb!

A) google knows all - https://www.google.co.uk/search?num=100&hl=en&safe=off&q=how+many+litres+in+a+uk+gallon&btnG=Search&meta=

B) Try having a look on parkers guide. Then add a bit for the age of the car.

My 2litre Type R belongs to a local AA group the amount it drinks, it will do around 250-270 miles on £40 worth of petrol.

my old man used to run a 1.8 litre CVH Sierra Estate. When he got rid of it, it was showing approx 120K miles and would do about 35 on a run and around town, I would guess it was late 20s or so.

The REAL economy in cars like this is that you can pick up bits from breakers to fix them, service them with £7 for 5 litres supermarket oil and insure it tpo. If it gets nicked/crashed, then curse your luck and get another clunker.

They are also a damned good laugh to grossly abuse on a field. Me and two mates had a bit of a banger race once, and I got a 1.8 sierra in that.. great fun!

my citroen 1.9td does about 430 to a tank around town, lots more on the motorway.
the sierra wont be too bad on fuel, but it wont really be very good either..dont forget you'll be paying nearly 200 quid a year road tax too! Shocked
if you want an economical car and its mostly town driving you do then get a metro or corsa 1.4 or something Thumbs Up
