Hi guys,

I've decided that I'm going to sell my car, even though the winter is fast approaching.

I'm afer some luggage for the SV650, but I really dont like the Givi range.

I love the look of the aluminium boxes that are available for the BMW's and wondered if there is anything available that is similar?

I'm off to the NEC, so I may get some ideas there, but if anyone has any suggestions, go right ahead.

Cheers!

For the money they charge for the aluminium touratech stuff you'll be paying the price of a car Shocked

tbh your best bet is to get a decent rack for your bike and use cheapish soft luggage unless you have a pillion reguarly

other than givi theres https://www.krauser.co.uk/

mostly depends what do you need it for? shopping? touring? everyday odds and sods? personally i have a topbox and side boxes which dont lock terifficly well, most stuff goes in the topbox and when i need to cart stuff about it goes in the sides, works ok for me..

Is it specifically hard luggage you're after, or are you happy with throwover panniers?

If you don't like Givi, then Nonfango also do a range of hard luggage. The likes of Oxford, etc will also do a large rage of soft luggage (panniers, tailpacks, tankbags, etc).

I used to use my CB500 for everything, so had a 52l Givi topbox on it, I know you might not like Givi, but their stuff certainly seems to be well made.

I already have an Oxford first time tail pack. It's OK. But you have to fix a strap under the sea, then 4-8 bunjee cords. These rub and have left nasty marks on the plastics. And it's also a bitch. I'd use it for going to/from work. So something permanent that I can sling a small bag into would be 1000's times better.

I like the ally as it would match the silver of the bike and the fact that it's a 'pointy' model the squareness of the boxes would match. Yes, I'm a tart.

I guess all the givi boxes are the same, you just buy a mounting bracket specific for your bike?

Yup, exactly. You buy a fitting kit, then the rack itself (both bike-specific) then the boxes themselves are generic models.

Hmm, the Krauser site doesn't have much info.

It looks like it'll have to be Givi then. Sad

I've got 2 rear boxes (Monolock) that fit onto the back of my ZZR via the Givi MM plate and rack. one is a Givi, the other is an "Easibox" which is a bit squarer but does the job equally as well. (If any1 wants it BTW, they can make me an offer.. Wink ) Picked up a really decent Cargo tank bag as well that magnets itself onto the tank and a few soft panniers.

I've use a combination of the Oxford humpback tankbag & panniers on my SV, haven't had any problems so far. The panniers are pretty easy to fit too cos of the way the pillion seat opens.

Don't bother with the 'waterproof' covers for the panniers though, just put everything in plastic bags inside them.

EDIT to say the tankbag I've got has stowaway straps on it that work like a rucksack when it's off the bike, so if you're using it for work, it's as easy as lifting it off the tank and throwing it over your shoulder Thumbs Up Smile

I use GIVI E470 topcase and soft sidebags. I once heard SHAD in spain has compatible base with GIVI but not sure...
SHAD is generally cheaper than GIVI I think.
Casemaker I know are GIVI, Hepco, Krauser, and SHAD.

SHAD

Hepco & Becker

Gobi of hepco looks a little bit like alminium(plastic)

Take a look at Kappa, they are a sister company to Givi and their cases are compatable with the monokey system, but cheaper. I have a Givi rack with a Kappa topbox on the CB500. I think I remember someone telling me they come off the same production line, but that might be a red herring.
