To fit to this Jawa I'm doing up. The bars are bent and fitting new bars means that they won't have the welded on brackets that take the original levers. I'm going to use a set of my spare KLE handlebars and I have a clutch lever assembly off my spare GPZ.
What I need is a front brake lever assembly that will clamp onto a standard size handlebar. But here's the problem:
It is CABLE operated.
The bike weighs in at 350lb and has a twin leading drum so said lever needs to be:
Strong.
Fairly long.
Have a longish travel.
As such a lever off a 125 probably wont be up to the job.
Ideally it would also have:
A built in brakelight switch.
Which rules out a 'universal' motocross one.
If I know which model of bike to look for, I can probably find one in a breakers or on fleabay.
Suggestions welcome. We're probably looking at 1970's jap bikes here but anything a bit more modern would be great (span adjusters and suchlike are nice when you have them). |
