Is the cagiva mito a delicate bike?

Sorry for the repost, I was just never clear on this. Is it easy to take care of a mito or is it the type of bike that is gonna seize on my ass in the middle of the motorway for no apparent reason? If I heat it up properly every time, and always use good oil etc, will it last?

Every Mito get's thraped by teenages, that's why they seize after time usually sooner than most 125's.

But yeah, if you use good oil and let it warm up, it all helps.
I had one that had been abused, there was no hope, get a clean example and you'll have as many problems as most high reving 2 stroke sports.

It's delicate compared to an equivilent 4 stroke.

If you use good oil, warm it up and obey the service schedule you shouldn't have any problems.

I just like it so much more than the rs 125, cause its much better looking, and rare in comparison. Some people have told me the mito will break down easier than the rs though, which gives me doubts...

ive not had a mito but being a 2t i suspect it'd be as easy to break as an RS. mate had an RS and was always having problems with it even with decent oil and looking after it etc.

Since both the 'priller and the Mito have engines that make over 100bhp / litre I would think they are much the same. Neglect warming them up properly and the recommendations for oil and servicing / rebuilds and they will fly apart.

Some people say the build quality is worse than the RS's, but I doubt there's much difference really, treat it well and it'll be fine.

The mito has a curiously shaped water jacket, and it will not warm up in winter. It'll rattle like a tractior, you'll take a month to find neutral, and the gear change is worse than agricultural (when using the clutch, at least...). You'll be finding false neutrals, too. I think there's one between 2nd and 3rd which can creep up a bit. The aprilia is 4x the cost to insure. Just get the least molested example you can. Too many people sell fucked bikes on.

However, there are a few plus points
It's sexy
Parts are piss easy to get hold of, using rob at mito mondo
parts are also cheap if you know where to look
the tank flips up, making maintenance a diddle.
it's torquier than the RS, and can hold 40mph in 6th all day long, 30mph is doable
insurance is dirt cheap compared to the aprilia
they're not as common
and if you get bored, you can put a 350 engine in it...

I own a planet. They're an awkward bike to get along with at first, but the parts problem is just a matter of poking and noseying, and not ordering through your dealer.

Get insurance quotes online for an RS and a Mito. I was quoted £1169 for the RS, and £280 for a mito, using the exact same conditions.

I hope i get something similar here in Spain. The aprilia was similar for insurance. Obviously...Less cagivas = Less cagiva accidents in the stats

Well my RS blew up twice, i looked after it good, used the best oil, warmed it up and it was kept in a garage, got about 4 months use out of it from the year.

Before i brought it, it had a engine rebuild, blew up one day after my test, rebuilt-£600 i think, then about 3-4months later (2000kms) the crankshaft blew, over £1000 to repiar.

It would of been cheaper for me to buy a brand new one, lost over £2000 from that bike, hurt alot!

Saying that, my mates mito is still going strong after about 3 years of abuse, doesn't seem to die that thing.
