ho hum
a few days ago I got a letter from the Police :o explaining that the driver of the car has had her licence revoked, been charged with driving withoout due care and attention, and been told to do an advanced driving course thing when she gets her licence back
4 days later i get another letter from my insurance, they've offered me 1700 for the gixxer (paid 1800 for it)
they've also offered me the bike back if i want it, no charge , or i can pay them to dispose of it ( YEH RIGHT!!) .they've said it's a Cat C write off
so what do i do?
should I decline their first offer? (there was about 800 quid of mods added to it after i brought it, but i never declared them to insurance)
If i get the gixxer back how do i get it back on the road? would it have to be Q plated?
and....is it worth me buying a bike at this time because of the weather? or should I buy now as there's loads of bikes for sale due to it being winter time?
cheers ____________________ Turbo R1

No to the Q plate and a tumbs up for getting it back on the road.
£1700 is nothing to be sniffed at, mods dont actually make the value of the bike go up much so it sounds like a nice little offer. ____________________ Current : MSX 125 Past : CBR 900RR Monkeybike : c50 LAC : ZXR750 H2 : FZR600 : ZX7R P3 : YW100 : TRX850: Trophy 900 T309 : GSXR 600 L0: Monkeybike : XJ6S Whosthedaddy |

Whats a "Q plate"?
I would sell it, raise as much money as you can, and then buy a nice bike in replacement. Take as much time as you want... don't just buy because there are loads of bikes for sale. Get one you are comfortable with, and that you want. ____________________ I ride: 2003 Aprilia RS50

Don't spend any of the £1700 cash doing it up. It just isn't worth it. I know it's hard to 'let go' of her but you really must. It will quickly eat up at least £1000 by the time you've got the parts, MOTs and DVLA checks out of the way. It will then never be worth what a bike with a clear history would be and it will always have the Cat C hanging over it on Hpi reports.
Take a long hard look at this list.... it's all the completed auctions of complete and running SRADS on ebay (You may need to sign in to view). Few sold for more than £1500, so if you were to do it up using your money can you guarantee that it would even sell enough to get your money back?
Either split it up or just take some pics and place on ebay. By splitting it you can work out more or less what you would get assuming the engine, clocks, brakes, disks and wheels are ok. They are the main parts people always want. As a job lot you may or may not get more but it's a lot less time involved on your part.
Then take that money, add it to your insurance claim and buy a nice new bike. |

It wasn't a lone nutter either, I had about three of them quite aggressively pursing it. I told them that it had gone off in a van to Grimsby and they still persisted. How exactly they thought I might get it back I don't know. |
