Hello all.

I currently own a DT50 1986 which was brought years ago as a field bike.

Recently more and more problems have occurred with the engine and so i have decided to pop a new one in!

Anyway, the question is will a RXS100 engine fit into a DT50 frame.

Many people have said yes it will easily but i want to double check!

Thanks, Jake

why not sell the 50 and buy the 100.You can do anything with a bike if
you want but it may be better to buy the bike you want rather than to
try and make it.Unless you know what you are doing, even then things
do go wrong.

Paddy.

It probably will given a bit of fiddling. At worst I reckon you'd need to make up some spacer plates. I presume it is an air cooled DT?

A very common one with hondas is to fit an H100 engine into an MTX50 chassis, sounds like a similar thing but with a different make. Apparently the Honda MTX100 hybrids are absolute flying machines (and wheelie monsters).

I know a guy who has fitted a CB500 engine into a Cagiva Mito frame AND turbocharged and intercooled it.

Anything is possible, it's how badly you want to do it that limits you Smile

That's cool but it's a bit dodgy. I wouldn't do something like that unless I was absolutely sure the frame could take the extra strain, as I've heard of nasty crashes and deaths of people doing similar things, ZX9 engine in ZXR400, and CR500 engine in derbi 50, Due to the frame twisting etc.

CR500 engine in a Derbi is stupid it makes what 10 times the power? The proper frame could barely cope with the delivery.

I think the Mito beam frame is quite strong, designed to handle the 33hp of the deristricted engine but the turbo powerplant makes 90HP far as I can remember. It's good point though, you would have to consider what you're doing very carefully.

I have just brought an RXS100 of ebay (£76!! Bargain) and i am going to see what it is like as standard off road. If its to bumpy (which i should imagine it would be) then i will do an engine transplant into my DT50.

I will post picks up of progress if wanted.
