Labour Charges

Thought it might be interesting to see the amount of difference that franshises charge for labour. My local Yamaha dealer charges £45 per hour - which i thought was pretty steep!

cost me more getting my bike serviced than the car!

Anyone else remember how much they paid?...

not sure what my local dealer charge but that seems cheap compared to some as far as i remember.

My nerest place charges £40 p/h. Not bad for Zone 1 Central London, well so I thought...

ESB 44/h

Speedy 50/h (though they work faster)

warricks 42/h work slow

Regents 10-30/h but you pay for trainees who don't use torque wrenches and have to torque things back up correctly yourself , plus they use the worst parts.

Bury M/Cs £50/h AND crap service.

doing it by meself free! , though I lack certain tools , ie the thing to undo the top of my fork.

My local bloke did my 15K service for £150.

He did a caliper overhaul for £29.

Don't bother with dealers.

Places I go are very very back street.

No posh seating, naked bird posters on the wall. Same for the car.

Dealers are scum, unless your within your 2 or 3 year warranty and have to go there.

I also try and do stuff for other people, ie i'll sort out their it stuff, they sort me out.

same here I do use some backstreet folks but had bad experiences ie my fork seals going pop while I was playing @ 60 on some twisty craggy mountain road = no brakes , = oh shit.

self doing is probably best but theres so many specialist tools even Stink has trouble.

I pay 25 quid an hour to get my bike serviced. The mechanic comes to my house with all his tools and does the job there.
