Please guys and girls be carefull on the roads, I just got home from work and today i have been told of two accidents involving bikes within the last 24hrs.

Both incidences happened in the exact same way and both seemed to have ended in a fatality.

How they happened was they were both filtering past traffic when they approached traffic islands and couldn't get through, so they took to the other side of the road and hit cars head on.

Now don't get me wrong im not turning all safety nazi on you all but please look after yourself as know one else will.

And thats why you dont filter, or should we say overtake moving traffic in built up areas ( im guessing it is since you mentioned traffic islands ) without being able to see infront of the car vechiel your trying to overtake..

Yeah they were both in built up areas that are notorious for slow moving traffic, so are also notorious for bikes filtering some at quite a speed aswell !

I totally agree with you gearboxgeezer totally their own fault.

The people i feel sorry for is the people in the cars they hit ! My mate was a complete mess after seeing the woman laying motionless in the road tonight, so i would hate to think of what the people in the cars were feeling.

And as far as i ave been told the cars hadn't given enough room between them and the island for the bikes to get through, still no excuse though.

Yeah, I rember seeing a horendus crash on the a40 ( the aftermath that is )

Driving past slowly due to traffic, 2 lanes blocked off ( in the work van ) all we see was 4 motionless bodies in body bags ( just there feet sticking out ) and some very smashed up cars with what looked like blood on the smashed up windshield. That was pretty immotional for me and I only saw there shoes poking out from the bag..

My mate was saying that her headed was twisted the wrong way, her lid had slipped round her face (so it was either fitted wrong or it was a real bad impact on her face ) and her eyes were wide open with her eye balls rolled back.

Horrible to even think about let alone witness.
