this morning I was coming through salford , and this CG125 with L plate on the rear (as I saw it in my mirror) pulled out dangerously and I missed him by inches, pulling this horrible stoppie so watch out! , its not just cars that pull out on you ,

and no I wasn't filtering and the salford road was fairly unbusy , with a pan infront of me with a 3.5 second gap , which I was staggered to the left so he could see me.

he almost got wiped out by a taxi coming the other way , a Hornet man who paces me most mornings , U turned and apparently gave chase.

so be careful of everybody!.

within the first week of riding my nsr, I had 3 bikers pull out on me dangerously, no cars.

First was a guy on an RS125, he pulled up to a T junction, looked left, didnt look right at all (where I was coming from) and pulled out, didnt notice me until I was braking hard, with the clutch in to make the bike scream,

Then as I was riding round the back of the RAF base, there was a lot of gawking plane spotters hanging around as some antinov was landing, I had a biker decide that he would cross the road to park cutting me up in the proccess, I nearly went into the side of him :/

cant quite remember the other..

I just treat everyone as a cunt.

It really annoys me probably more than cars do when a biker does somthing really silly, not so much as it "gives us a bad name" as I think thats a ridiculous thing to say... But its just the stupidity knowing that if I was a 40tonne truck then I would of wiped him out.

But I also think it is really really cool when I see a powerranger straight superstar looking guy with matching leathers to his bike, on a GSXR 1000cc 06 model or somthing, and there doing everything right, Looking over shoulder, indicating properly, not flying threw roundabouts. On some occasions that looks better than them going fast... on city roads that is Very Happy

If you were a 40 tonne truck they would have seen you. If you were a car they would have seen you. If you are a bike they don't. People don't see bikes due to 'unintentional blindness'.

This blindness is caused by the brain filtering out everything except what the person expects to see - cars. They look out for cars as that is all they are thinking off avoiding at junctions etc. Bikes are not in their mind so even if they are there they get filtered out by the brain.

Well in theory it applies to bikers to. We are so conscious of thinking about cars not looking properly, on cars pulling out, on cars not realising we are there, on cars doing U-turns, on cars... get the idea??

Often all we can think about is cars, so naturally they are in the forefront of our minds. We to can get 'unintentional blindness' at junctions and not see bikes Wink

I tend to think more about hazards, like is there any debry in the road, is there a junction up ahead, what is that pedestrian going to do, wheres that cyclist heading, is that car going to do what I think he is? etc,

your more likely to last a long time without an accident if you think in those terms, no matter what vehical your in IMO
