Presuming you're talking an older second hand sr125, I'd think you look a lot less of a twat than someone on something like (the 'looks like a big bike') shiny new Comet 125 Smile.

Most important thing to remember, I'd say is 'observation' - know what's going on ahead of you before it happens to you Smile.

Take it easy and enjoy.

Hi and Welcome to BCF. Smile

I rode an SR125 for a few months, before I did my DAS.

I know what you mean..........if your wanting street cred, then you cant get it on an SR. I also had a top box on mine, so picture the scene Razz

Saying that, I loved mine, had lots of fun on it and it really built my confidence.

It was cheap to run and insure and it did its job admirably......got me the experience I needed, before DAS. Thumbs Up

Get out and about on it, and get loadsa miles under ya belt, then do your DAS next year as planned. It doesnt matter what you look like on it....think of it as a stepping stone. No point in forking out loadsa ££££'s for a flash 125, if your only going to use, to get you ready for DAS.

Welcome to the forum. I agree with BanditBitch. I got a crappy gs 125 N reg. Wasn't prepared to spend a fortune on the 125 as it was a way of getting some bike experience before the DAS. I only really did commuter iles and the odd ride out on it, but having never been on a bike in my life before (I am 33) I decided that was the best way to go. Did my DAS a month later and passed 1st time. Doesn't matter what you look like m8, we all have to start somewhere, and experienced riders should remember this too, easy to forget and become inpatient. I would do my DAS as soon as you feel you are ready to progress m8, and if that means waiting 'til next year, then so be it.

Make sure you look well ahead of the road, not just what's immediately in front of you, is different riding bikes to driving car, you need eyes in your ass.

Good look m8 with whatever you decide to do, but most of all, stay safe. Thumbs Up

PostPosted: 18:37 - 28 Oct 2006    Post subject: Riding in Rain Reply with quote

My instructor used to say that riding in the rain is no different than on a dry day. There is just as much rubber in contact with the road at any one time. However, you need to be aware that your stopping distances are doubled in the rain, so the 2 second rule becomes 4 second rule. Also, watch your speed. As for leaning, you should only lean as much as is comfortable for you. I have only been riding a few months and have noticed that my lean is progressively increasing, but still dont lean as much as experienced bikers, but I am more interested in riding safely and within my comfort zone, which does increase as you go on. Happy riding m8 and good luck with your DAS when you decide to do it. Very Happy

There's no substitute for experience, so the more miles the better. If you can keep going through the winter, you'll gain a lot of good experience in poor weather so come the summer it'll be a breeze!

Just get out there and enjoy it Very Happy
