A scooter pulled out on you! Shocked

That's unusual and hopefully more painful for him than it is for you.

Unusual but not surprised looking at the way some of the scooter riders ride near to me!! (Not Tarring everyone with the same brush, but you know who you are!) Well, hope you are on the mend and on the bike soon. Smile

Most young scooter riders are a accident waiting to happen to be honest, they ride side by side each other, weaving in/out of traffic, and have no regard for anyones safety, not looking where their going or doing, etc etc etc etc etc etc.

Although i have seen the odd one scooter rider riding sensibly(usually the slightly older ones).

Sorry to here about your spill.

Still no response and you said you were so bored.
I may be to late to say get well soon.

You must have been mortally injured or bored to death.

Sorry for no reply!

Ran out of money for the bloody patient line thing. It was mind numbingly slow anyway.

Basically, i was in the inside lane of a highstreet, the outside lane was static with traffic, but cars dont use the inside lane before 5 because its littered with parked cars half on pavement etc, so only cyclists and motorbikes use it (to great effect!).

to my left was a side road, which the guy on the ped and cut accross the outside lane to get too, came between two cars and across my lane without even sparing it a glance, almost the moment he was out from between the cars i hit him, basically in the middle of the road.

Luckily I was only doing around 20mph, so it wasnt a cataclysmic crash, but unfortunatly for me, my big ol Varadero landed on my leg, snapped it and crushed my ankle.

Adrenaline gave me the strength to get it off, but when i went to lift my leg up the bottom quarter flopped straight down! Which resulted in me screaming "Ive broken my leg!" on my back in the middle of the road!

Ambu-bike arrived within 5 minutes, cut off my trousers, supported my leg etc, cops and ambulance arrived after about 10, lots of happy gas, splinted my leg, gave me morphine etc, caught the disco taxi to A & E.

Queue lots, lots more happy gas (which by the way makes your hearing go CraAazy), then more morphine and something a bit stronger than knocked me out while they relocated my ankle and plastered my leg!

Got an opp later that night to but a load of screws and a plate in my ankle, got out of hospital a couple of days later. With a big cast that is.

Scooter kid was fine, no injuries (was walking around fine). Stitches out on the 8th, and new cast. Then I get one of the screws out after another 7 weeks and then i can start putting weight on it. And apparently it'll be a few weeks after that before i can walk without crutches.

And hopefully Ride!

Thanks for all the get well's etc, did manage to read a few at hospital but was generally dosed up to my eyeballs!

Shake

Stitches out

I was on the equinox gas once. Laughing

Same thing happened just 500yds from my house a couple of weeks ago.
Outside lane stopped at lights.
Clear inside lane.
Someone 'kindly' leaves a gap for cars from the other side to get into the gas station.
Someone sees the gap and dives through into the gas station like a stupid cunt.
No regard for anyone aproaching the lights to turn left or go straight on.

It must be a common thing.

We must be more carefull of those bastards in cars out there.

Nice to see you got the use of a computer mate.
Hope the leg gets better.
Will you be able to play the piano after they take that cast off 'n' that?

Leaving the gap for cars to get through is in the Highway Code. Crossing lanes without looking for oncoming traffic isn't. Unless he hit something or someone had to brake to avoid them, how do you know whether he had any regard or not?

See the attached picture for the most dangerous part of my commute to work. Taxis etc go down the left hand lane to jump the queue in the right hand lane turning right. Vehicles emerge from the left and also cross your path from the right. When filtering through it, you need to be very, very careful. Neither of those traffic streams can see you.

https://www.bikechatforums.com/download.php?id=41258

Traffic just stops there, so unless you want to queue while someone opens a gap on the right hand side, you have to filter to make progress.

Aye awright...

It also says, something like, (do not quote me) "you should be carefull when crossing over to the oposite side of the road through quing traffic.
Watch for 'unseen' traffic on the inside lane."

The prick I was refering to made no attempt to look for traffic cause there was a big white van blocking his view.

I know that you are permitted to cross through traffic.

But there is a set proceedure.

You don't just batter across.
You have to check it is safe.

It's why we in the UK cross drivers door to drivers door at junctions so you are not blinded by the other vehicle. (Staggered junction excepted.)
