Tell me about it! - Having only ever had 3 points in 20 years of driving, I am now extremely worried about changing all that! (It wouldn't be so bad if the over a 100=ban didnt exist!

I was worried it was going to turn up at my door overflowing with points that I never knew i got but its still nice and clean (hopefully it will stay that way)

Just got back from a ride on the Hornet I bought. Good fun but I froze my nads off in the process.

Congrats on the new addition to your licence froggeh Thumbs Up

I was out on the bike late last night, and early this morning... and both times I think I froze parts of me I didn't know I had Shocked LOL

(I'm still determined to be an all weather biker though, so that when the spring and summer comes I should have plenty of experience and miles behind me to enjoy myself that much more Thumbs Up )

Not true

My ex was doing 107mph and he got 250quid fine and 6 points.

They cant ban you if you will lose your job which in his case he would have. Because then they would make you a criminal because of course you would still drive to work!

No work no house, no house no family no life!

In the end its only speeding, it aint that bad really I think people blow it out of proportion really. Although 30mph signs are there for a reason!!!!!! but speeding on the motorway, so wat!

What does it cost to change your license?

I haven't sent mine away to add the bike to my license yet as I needed my passport for a couple of trips away.

I've also got to change address on mine and convert to the photo ID and I'm a bit worried that one of the tasks will end up not being completed and I'll have to send it away again at additional cost.

A mate sent his license away last year and they lost it. They couldn't find any record of him in their database either so he had to re-take his test!!! Very worrying that, I'll make sure I've got a complete copy of everything I send and it'll go recorded.

Mine dint cost a thing.. I gave it to the examiner who posted it to DVLA.. this way i get to keep the PASS certificate (just in case they loose my record). Twisted Evil
If you have changed address, then there wont be charge to get a photo licence. Thumbs Up

That is possible.

Get one of your licences in Northern Ireland, I know a guy with an english bike licence and a provisional car licence.

It used to be the case that vocational licences for PSVs and HGVs were seperate from car licences. They're now all on one (and called PCV and LGV (buses and lorries)).

It doesn't matter if you've a second driving licence if you get banned - the penalty is not against one licence or another, but that you're not permitted to drive for a specified period. Driving while disqualified is a very serious offence and can include time in gaol.

Equally the penalty for exceeding the speed limit by 30mph isn't an automatic ban - but it is quite likely to be a ban.

I had a change of address(was still registered at my folks 18 years after I'd moved out Smile) and an old SP50 to get rid of as well as the cat A and change to photocard, and it cost nothing Smile

Once you get 3 points on your provsional licence you can only get 3 more before a ban is imposed.....

There are quite a few loop holes to get out of a ban, but its pretty hard to get away with it when your still on a provisonal.

You have to be carful as a learner you/we are always a traget to the police (traffic cops). I either get pulled over or followed by the traffic cops on a friday night, after work. Thumbs Down

I wear a reflected jacket now and i aint been pulled over for a 'standard traffic stop' since 2/3 weeks ago! Mr. Green The police dont charge me.. they are just checking to see if i am pissed Rolling Eyes (on the road i travel on, there has been ALOT of Drunk Driving accidents so i can see why they do it).

If anyone goes on that road towards skipton (from bradford, just after the dual-carriage way ends) you may notice a couple of flowers on the road side (just before bradley on a sharpe right corner).. A friend of a friend died there 1year ago. Neutral

Ah the SP30 was for speeding back in 1998 on my car license I just didn't want to 'pay' for the pleasure of having it removed.
